Newsletter for the latest logistical updates

Naggar Foreign Trade, as your logistical consultant, would like to keep you posted with the latest updates, considering the scope of logistics.

- ACID for air freight shipments:
Starting in 2026, ACID is now applied to air freight shipments.
The only exception is courier shipments below 30 KG and a USD 2,000 value.
Courier shipments with a value of more than USD 2,000 are exempted from ACID till the end of April only.
The cost of cargo x remains the same, USD 175 per shipment.

- Serbia EU agreement:
Serbia is now part of the EU agreement, under which EUR1 is applicable.
EUR1 in this case DOES NOT GRANT a full duties exemption; the exemption is applied partially based on the HS Code.
Each HS Code needs to be checked individually to advise on the applied exemption.

- "REVISED RULES" Statement:
As of 2026, many agreements require the exact phrase "REVISED RULES" to be added to Box 7 of the EUR.1 certificate or in the origin declaration on the invoice.
Effective Dates: While many countries began adopting these rules in 2025, they became mandatory for many, including Egypt (as of Jan 1, 2026), to avoid customs delays.

- Situation in the MEA/GCC region:
All shipping worldwide is now affected by the war situation.
Transit times from the far east are significantly increased due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Carriers have introduced hefty War-Risk Surcharges (up to $3,000–$4,000 per container) and Emergency Fuel Surcharges.
Airspace closures across the UAE, Qatar, and other Gulf nations have shut down key passenger/freight hubs, limiting air cargo capacity and forcing expensive re-routings via Turkey or Asia.
