Happy Birthday & Congratulations to our Superstar – Laine! 🌟🎉

Today in Balti Logistika we celebrate Laine’s birthday and also her 3-year journey with our company!

This year, during our Winter Event, we also proudly selected her as one of our superstars of the year – one of the people who has had the most impact.

From joining us as a student to becoming a confident and valued member of our Customer Service/Operations team, Laine’s growth journey has been inspiring to watch.

Let’s hear from Laine herself 👇

📌 Name, position at Balti Logistika, and how long have you been here?

I have been part of the Customer Service/Operations team at Balti Logistika for three years.

📌 What made Balti Logistika win you over – why are you here?

During my studies, Balti Logistika was seeking a student to develop into a skilled logistics specialist – exactly the role I wanted to pursue. Since then, I’ve grown both professionally and personally. I’ve gone from being a student to becoming a confident full-time team member.

I’m here because I truly enjoy working at this company – I have amazing colleagues and a supportive, positive work environment.

📌 What would be your dream task or project?

I would love to visit universities as a guest lecturer and introduce future specialists to the practical side of logistics by creating an interactive learning game or simulation. It would give students real insight into our daily work: something I felt was missing during my own studies.

📌 Summarize your average workday in a few sentences – what do you do?

My workday is dynamic and full of multitasking. I’m constantly switching between tasks while keeping track of small details. I might arrange a pickup for one shipment while another is landing and needs customs clearance. At the same time, I prepare documents, approve invoices, solve unexpected issues, and stay in touch with clients and partners. All while trying to enjoy my coffee before it gets cold.

📌 If you weren’t working in logistics, you would be working in…? Why?

I would either be a stewardess or a pianist. I’ve always admired airplanes, but music has been an inseparable part of my everyday life.

✨ Laine, thank you for your positivity, professionalism, and team spirit. We’re proud to have you as our Superstar.

🌍 How the conflict in the Middle East is impacting global logistics – and why it matters for Baltic companies?

The recent escalation in the Middle East has disrupted both maritime and air transport routes, creating new challenges for global supply chains. One of the most critical chokepoints in international trade – the Hormuz Strait – has effectively become a high-risk zone, forcing carriers to reroute vessels and suspend bookings.

For companies in our region, this is not a distant geopolitical story. The effects are already visible in longer delivery times, rising transport costs, and increased uncertainty in supply chains.

In an opinion piece in Delfi, Balti Logistika's Operations Manager Greete Orgusaar explains how disruptions in this key transit corridor can trigger a chain reaction across global trade – from energy prices to shipping routes and logistics planning.

💡 For businesses that rely on precise delivery schedules, even a small disruption in the supply chain can have major consequences. At Balti Logistika, we believe that clear information, fast communication, and flexible logistics solutions are more important than ever in navigating uncertain times.

✈️ Meet Siim, Logistics Specialist at Balti Logistika, who has been with us for almost two years. What started as an internship quickly turned into a hands-on, challenge-driven career in logistics – exactly the way he likes it.

Let’s hear from Siim 👇

📌 What made Balti Logistika win you over – why are you here?

I started my journey at Balti Logistika as an intern. From the very first impression, I was drawn in by my colleagues’ straightforward attitude and strong goal orientation. It was made clear right away that this isn’t a place for hand-holding.

The work is challenging, but also very rewarding.

There was no long talk, just jumping straight into solving complex problems. Fast forward a few months, and I realized that everyone here is a true professional in their field. The company offers a flexible and supportive work environment where self-development isn’t just an option. It’s part of everyday life.

On top of that, everything is transparent, and the people are almost too normal – ambitious, down-to-earth, and great to work with in such a demanding role. And yes, they were right, the job is rewarding in many ways.

📌 What would be your dream task or project?

I’d love to be involved in planning a charter flight one day. I’ve heard it’s highly complex and requires extensive preparation. Another dream would be organizing the transport of WRC Rally1 cars for a Rally World Championship event. Or maybe even both together.

📌 Summarise your average workday in a few sentences – what do you do?

Most of my time goes into planning the movement of goods by sea, air, and land. This includes preparing documentation, advising clients, and solving ongoing or upcoming issues in the transport chain. I also create transport solutions and price offers. In short, my daily work is all about planning and constant communication with clients and partners.

📌 How would you describe Balti Logistika in three words?

Solution-oriented professionalism.

💡 From intern to logistics specialist, Siim’s journey reflects what Balti Logistika is all about: challenges, growth, trust, and finding smart solutions. Every single day.

🌍 Meet Jurate, Head of our Vilnius branch, who has been a part of Balti Logistika for an incredible 17 years. Time truly flies when every day brings something new – and Jurate wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s hear what keeps her motivated after nearly two decades in logistics 👇

📌 What made Balti Logistika win you over – why are you here?

Every single day at Balti Logistika is intriguing and full of new challenges. I’m driven by the desire to overcome them, to keep moving forward, and to find smarter, more efficient ways to organize logistics while ensuring our customers stay fully satisfied.

📌 What would be your dream task or project?

I’m especially inspired by projects related to pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, and scientific research – those that involve delivering equipment, laboratory blood samples, or urgent shipments to hospitals. They bring me closer to the progress of science and make me feel that, in some way, I’m contributing to improving people’s health and wellbeing.

📌 What’s the coolest thing you’ve done at work in the past year?

In logistics, there are no boring days. Every day offers something different: communicating with clients from diverse sectors, learning about their needs, and discovering the inner workings of their industries. From supplying spare parts for aircraft repairs to transporting wind turbines and navigating complex customs procedures, each experience expands my perspective on how dynamic and diverse this field truly is.

And, of course, I’m deeply inspired by team building. A shared sense of purpose and collaboration gives us strength, connection, and the drive to achieve even more together.

📌 If you weren’t working in logistics, you would be working in…? Why?

If not logistics, I’d probably dedicate myself to something that helps people slow down and recharge. Maybe wellness, physical therapy, or massage. I have a strong sense of empathy and love helping others feel balanced and at peace – something that’s become more valuable than ever in today’s fast-paced world.

✨ From managing complex international shipments to leading with empathy and teamwork, Jurate’s 17-year journey shows how passion, curiosity, and care can turn a career into a lifelong adventure.

🚢 Meet Ksenia Sirenko, Logistics Specialist at Balti Logistika, who joined the team in April 2023. With her sharp eye for detail and love for complex challenges, Ksenia brings calm, precision, and creativity to every shipment she handles.

Let’s get to know her story 👇

📌 What made Balti Logistika win you over – why are you here?

Based on my experience, I can say that Balti Logistika is the best place to work in the logistics sector. We have a great team, a positive atmosphere, and excellent working conditions. The tasks are always interesting, and the company really does a lot to make employees feel comfortable and valued at work.

📌 What would be your dream task or project?

Once, I had the chance to organize a very unique sea shipment — transporting a large robotic machine. It was oversized and hazardous cargo, which made the whole process especially challenging but also incredibly exciting.

In the future, I’d love to organize the shipment of a vintage car by sea, perhaps for a classic car exhibition. It would be such an interesting blend of technical precision and nostalgia — a true logistics adventure!

📌 What’s the coolest thing you’ve done at work in the past year?

I started organizing sea transport for oversized and modular houses — a project I’m still working on today. These shipments are fascinating because they require exact planning, careful handling, and perfect coordination — every detail matters when the cargo is both large and fragile.

📌 If you weren’t working in logistics, you would be working in…? Why?

If not logistics, I’d probably be doing something related to dogs – maybe grooming or handling – since I really love them. But honestly, logistics has me hooked. It’s dynamic, demanding, and endlessly interesting.

In a way, logistics and dogs are alike — both require patience, steady nerves, and quick thinking! 🐾

✨ From oversized cargo to delicate coordination, Ksenia’s passion for precision and problem-solving keeps every shipment moving smoothly – with heart, skill, and a dash of adventure.

🚚 Say hello Marta Mikosa, who’s been part of Balti Logistika’s Operations team since 2018! What started as a university internship quickly turned into a long-term career full of growth, learning, and teamwork.

Let’s get to know Marta a bit better 👇

📌 What made Balti Logistika win you over – why are you here?

My university internship turned out to be everything I hoped to find in a full-time role after graduation – meaningful work, supportive colleagues, and opportunities to grow. Staying on felt like a natural next step.

📌 What would be your dream task or project?

My logistics dream is full visibility, to have absolutely every aspect perfectly organised, from the smallest processes and pieces of information to documents, knowledge, physical flows, and data movements. Everything so well-structured that there’s no room left for improvement.

📌 In your opinion, what kind of person would be the best fit for working at Balti Logistika?

The ideal personality might differ by department, but one thing unites us all: everyone here is engaged and genuinely committed to making the company better. That shared drive is what makes our team strong.

📌 If you weren’t working in logistics, you would be working in…? Why?

I’ve never really imagined myself outside of logistics, but if I had to choose, it would be something involving numbers and organisation. I love bringing order and structure to complex things.

✨ From intern to logistics professional, Marta’s journey at Balti Logistika shows how curiosity, commitment, and teamwork can turn an opportunity into a lasting career.

🌍 Meet Greta Kačinskienė, who has been part of Balti Logistika for more than nine years! Reliable, fast-paced, and supportive, those are the words she uses to describe both her work and the team around her.

But what’s kept her here nearly a decade? Let’s hear it from Greta herself. 👇

📌 What would be your dream task or project?

Coordinating logistics for the Olympics would be a dream come true. Managing the movement of equipment, people, and materials across countries and time zones sounds like the ultimate challenge – and an incredibly exciting one!

📌 What made Balti Logistika win you over – why are you here?

From the very beginning, I was drawn in by the dynamic pace of logistics and the strong sense of teamwork.

What really won me over was how every day brought something new: challenges to tackle, solutions to build, and plenty of opportunities to grow. The culture of trust, support, and continuous improvement is what keeps me here and makes me proud to be part of this journey.

📌 What’s the coolest thing you’ve done at work in the past year?

Definitely coordinating shipments with On-Board Couriers (OBCs). These high-priority deliveries required constant tracking and precision, knowing that someone was literally hand-carrying the shipment across the world. Being part of that tightly managed process was both unique and rewarding.

📌 What do you enjoy most about your job, and what are the biggest challenges?

Problem-solving is my favourite part. Finding the most efficient, cost-effective, and reliable solutions under pressure gives me a real sense of accomplishment. The biggest challenge is unpredictability: delays, disruptions, and last-minute changes are inherent to the job, and staying calm and solution-oriented is crucial.

📌 Summarise your average workday in a few sentences – what do you do?

My day starts with reviewing shipments and emails to catch any urgent issues. The rest of the day is a mix of coordinating with partners, carriers, and our internal team, solving problems on the go, planning upcoming shipments, and making sure every detail is in place.

📌 In your opinion, what kind of person would be the best fit for working at Balti Logistika?

Someone proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure. Logistics doesn’t wait – so you need to be a quick thinker, a clear communicator, and a problem-solver. And a good sense of humour always helps on the busiest days!

📌 If you weren’t working in logistics, you would be working in…? Why?

I’d probably be in the restaurant business. I love the fast-paced environment, the precision, the timing, and the satisfaction of delivering great experiences to customers. Much like logistics, it’s about creating order in high-energy situations and seeing the results of your work right away.

💡 Whether it’s coordinating high-stakes courier deliveries or keeping everyday operations running smoothly, Greta brings precision, adaptability, and a smile to every challenge!

🌱 Talent isn’t something you can sn**ch at the last minute – it’s something you grow from within.

Our Head of HR, Pirjo Falten, shares in a recent piece that internal growth is no longer a “nice-to-have” but rather a survival strategy for every logistics company.

Too often, interns and junior employees are treated as temporary helpers. However, when they are given real responsibilities, such as engaging with clients, managing shipments and solving real problems, they develop into skilled experts who can see both the details and the big picture.

In her article, Pirjo explores:

👥 Why companies that fail to invest in their people end up training talent for their competitors

📦 How hands-on experience is the first step from junior to professional

🌍 Why deep expertise, not just climbing the career ladder, is critical for long-term client trust
