Many reports reference unrest in Puerto Vallarta, which is located on Mexico’s Pacific Coast—approximately 2,500km from the Mexican Caribbean. Travel to Cancún, Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Cozumel continues as planned.

These destinations are located in Quintana Roo, which is currently rated Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution by the U.S. State Department—the same advisory level as many popular Caribbean and global vacation destinations.

As with any travel, informed and mindful travel is key. Staying in established tourist areas and using authorized transportation greatly reduces risk—just as it would anywhere in the world.
