WHAT DOES AN OFFSHORE INTERVENTION LOOK LIKE? 🔴

It brings a lot of moving parts together.

A specialised jack-up vessel positions at the turbine. The vessel is elevated above the water, creating a stable platform for the operation. From there, crane, equipment, technicians and crew all have to work together to get the job done safely.

WIND SERVER has now been part of more than 700 interventions in offshore wind.

This is a glimpse of what that work looks like in practice.

NAVIGATING THE FUTURE - WOMEN IN MARITIME 🔴

Last week, our Chief Engineer onboard WIND PIONEER, Thilde, took the stage at the "Navigating the Future - Women in Maritime" event at SIMAC - Svendborg International Maritime Academy ⚓

The event brought together maritime students and industry professionals for an afternoon focused on careers, leadership, diversity and opportunities within the maritime industry.

We are proud to have Thilde representing ZITON and sharing her experience from working offshore with the next generation of maritime professionals.

MEET THE ZITONs – Nicole Wilson 👋

Get to know the people behind the work – onshore and offshore.

Name: Nicole Wilson
Job title: Resource Manager
Years with the company: Since 2000

🔴 What do you usually do during a normal workday?
As Resource Manager, I match the right technicians to the right projects and make sure each job has the skills and people it needs. A big part of the role is keeping an overview of availability, planning ahead and reacting quickly when things change.

🔴 What do you like most about your job?
The variety. No two days are the same, and I enjoy bringing the right teams together for each project. Some weeks I’m at my desk, others I’m out on site or welcoming new technicians to ZITON. Knowing I have helped set a project up for success is what keeps the job exciting.

🔴 What’s something about your workplace that you really appreciate?
You are listened to, valued and given the opportunity to grow. I started as an Administrator and have since worked as Projects Coordinator, Project Manager and now Resource Manager. Everyone’s contribution matters, from the office to the vessels, and we all work towards the same goal.

🔴 What do you usually do when you’re off work?
I enjoy spa days, beach walks, music festivals and holidays. I also spend a lot of time with my seven-year-old granddaughter, who keeps me busy.

WORLD MARITIME DAY 🔴⚓

On 24 September, we mark World Maritime Day under this year’s theme: “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.”

At ZITON, we see this in our daily work. Our vessels and teams take the rules, procedures and experience that are essential to safe maritime operations and put them into practice offshore every day.

By doing so, we help keep offshore wind farms running and support the green transition – one operation at a time.

Job title: Commercial Manager

🔴 What do you usually do during a normal workday?
As Commercial Manager, I work with a selected customer base from the first enquiry through contract negotiations and handover to Operations. I also follow projects during ex*****on and invoicing, attend conferences and exhibitions and spend a lot of time building and maintaining customer relationships.

🔴 What do you like most about your job?
The variety and complexity of the projects. Offshore wind is constantly developing, and I enjoy finding solutions to new challenges together with our customers. Knowing that the work ultimately helps keep wind turbines running also gives the job real meaning for me.

🔴 What’s something about your workplace that you really appreciate?
The trust and freedom to get the job done, together with the cooperation between colleagues. ZITON feels like a second home to me, and I really value being part of a close-knit team.

🔴 What do you usually do when you’re off work?
I enjoy working out, doing yoga and playing tennis. I also like hiking and travelling whenever I get the chance.

WIND SERVER HAS REACHED 700 INTERVENTIONS 🔴

7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ interventions is a strong milestone for a vessel built to do one thing well: support offshore wind farms when turbines need service, repair or major component replacement.

WIND SERVER was built by ZITON in 2014 for the O&M market in offshore wind. In practice, that means she is designed for the work that happens after a wind farm is installed and needs to keep running.

With 700 interventions completed, WIND SERVER has now surpassed her little sister WIND and is the most experienced vessel in offshore wind in terms of major component replacements completed ✅

700 interventions later, WIND SERVER is still doing what she was built to do ⚓
