MEET THE ZITONs – Thomas Svoboda 👋

Name: Thomas Svoboda
Job title: Chief Engineer, WIND DISCOVERY
Years with the company: Since 2007

🔴 What do you usually do during a normal workday?
As Chief Engineer, I’m responsible for all engineering onboard the vessel. A big part of the job is making sure everything runs as it should – from monitoring consumption for the customer to ensuring that all systems and equipment are working properly. Safety is always a priority, so we test and check everything to make sure it performs as expected.

🔴 What do you like most about your job?
Being at sea. It’s something that stays with you. I tried working onshore for a while, but I had to come back. Once you’ve worked at sea, it’s hard to stay away.

🔴 What’s something about your workplace that you really appreciate?
The responsibility and the level of professionalism onboard. Everyone knows their role, and it’s important that everything works together – both for the crew and for the customer.

🔴 What do you usually do when you’re off work?
For me, it’s about recharging before heading back out again. But I always know I’ll return to the sea.

Name: Thomas Rasmussen
Job title: Head of ZITON Contractors
Years with the company: Since 2021

🔴 What do you usually do during a normal workday?
I’m responsible for everything related to work on the wind turbine. That includes technicians, documentation and equipment. A big part of my job is making sure everything is in place and compliant before we go offshore. It’s about planning, coordinating and making sure we are ready to deliver when the job starts.

🔴 What do you like most about your job?
The people. Putting together the right team across functions and seeing everything come together. It’s a long chain of tasks, and every part matters for the final result.

🔴 What’s something about your workplace that you really appreciate?
The trust and the freedom to take responsibility. It’s a lean organisation where there is a short distance from planning to ex*****on. That makes it easier to get things done and stay focused on the job.

🔴 What do you usually do when you’re off work?
In my spare time, I enjoy hunting and acrobatic flying.

Name: Lars Østergaard
Job title: Master, WIND DISCOVERY
Years with the company: Since 2020

🔴 What do you usually do during a normal workday?
As Master, I have the overall responsibility for the vessel, the crew and the operation onboard. I’m on the bridge when we sail in and out of port, and I make sure everything runs safely and as planned.

🔴 What do you like most about your job?
Standing on the bridge early in the morning and watching the sun rise. You’re on your way to something new, and you know the day will bring different challenges.

🔴 What’s something about your workplace that you really appreciate?
The teamwork when we manoeuvre the vessel into position offshore. It’s a large ship that has to be placed exactly right, and when everyone works together to make it succeed, it’s a great feeling.

🔴 What do you usually do when you’re off work?
I enjoy spending time at home and taking a break from life at sea before the next rotation begins.

MEET THE ZITONs – Martin Blomgren Nielsen 👋

Name: Martin Blomgren Nielsen
Job title: Operations Manager, Horsens
Years with the company: Since 2021

🔴 What do you usually do during a normal workday?
As Operations Manager, I’m in daily contact with both the customer and the vessel crews before, during and after each project. A big part of my job is planning and preparing documentation and drawings for the projects, while also making sure the vessels operate according to the customer’s expectations. In short, I help solve the operational challenges that come up along the way.

🔴 What do you like most about your job?
Working with skilled colleagues who are passionate about what they do. There’s a strong team spirit, and it should be enjoyable to go to work. The social environment is important to me.

🔴 What’s something about your workplace that you really appreciate?
The freedom with responsibility and the opportunities to develop both professionally and personally. The work environment is constantly changing, and unexpected situations happen. That’s something I enjoy, because it allows me to use my experience from sailing and work closely with colleagues both offshore and in the office.

🔴 What do you usually do when you’re off work?
I live near Horsens with my wife Sara and our two daughters, Thea and Ebba. We spend a lot of time together as a family – going for walks in the forest, visiting playgrounds or playing games. I also enjoy doing crossfit in my spare time.
