Your production keeps running. We install around it.

That is not a sales promise. It is how our silos are actually designed. Every single component is built to fit through a standard doorway and carried inside by hand. No cranes. No structural modifications. No wall removals.

The reason is simple. Most of our customers install new storage capacity in facilities that are already operating. Shutting down a production line for weeks is not an option. So the installation has to work around what is already there.

Our silos arrive as flat-packed kits on a pallet. Two people can assemble a standard unit in as little as 7 hours, and even the largest configurations are typically completed within a few days. All using language-neutral instructions that work whether you are in Denmark, Brazil or Japan.

Because the system is modular, the installation sequence can be planned around your production schedule. One section at a time if that is what the situation requires.

It is not the most dramatic way to install a silo. But it is the most practical one. And practical is what matters when your plant cannot afford to stop.

BM Silo manufactures modular silos for dry material storage, and over the past 61 years, the list of materials we have engineered solutions for has grown far beyond grain.

Today our silos store plastic granules and regranulate for the polymer industry. Wheat, barley, oats, corn and rapeseed for agriculture. Meal feed, pellets and soybean meal for feed production. You can have the best silo on the market. If you cannot document it, you are out.

That is the reality in process industries today. Procurement departments are not just comparing price and capacity anymore. They are comparing documentation. And suppliers who cannot deliver it are disqualified before the conversation even starts.

The list keeps growing. EN 1090 for full material traceability. CE marking for European compliance. ATEX certification for environments where dust creates explosion risk. And since January 2026, CBAM requires importers to document the CO2 emissions of carbon-intensive products like steel.

For plant managers and quality directors, this is not paperwork for the sake of it. It is a prerequisite. Without the right documentation, equipment cannot be approved, installations cannot be signed off, and products cannot enter certain markets.

The challenge is that many silo suppliers treat documentation as an afterthought. Something that gets handled at the end of the project, if it gets handled at all. That creates delays, gaps in compliance, and uncomfortable conversations with auditors.

Nobody builds a new factory just because they need more storage.

In most process plants, the building is already there. The production line is already running. And the space you have to work with is whatever is left between the existing equipment and the walls.

That is the reality of expanding storage capacity in an operating facility. Ceiling heights are fixed. Floor space is limited. Doors are standard width. And the one thing you absolutely cannot afford is shutting down production for weeks while new equipment is installed.

It sounds like a simple problem, but it rules out a surprising number of storage solutions on the market. Pre-assembled silos that cannot fit through the door. Round silos that waste floor space in rectangular buildings. Systems that require structural modifications before they can even be installed.

And then there is the budget question. Capital expenditure is under pressure everywhere right now. Large upfront investments get pushed, delayed, or cancelled entirely. What gets approved is the project that can be done in stages, with predictable costs, and without disrupting what is already working.

Every time you switch material in your silo, the clock starts ticking.

Production stops. Cleaning begins. And somewhere in the back of your mind, the same question comes up: did we get everything out?

Because if the answer is no, the next batch is already at risk before production even restarts. Residues from the last run mixing into the new one. A quality complaint waiting to happen. Or worse, a recall.

In food and feed processing, a single contamination-related shutdown can cost tens of thousands in lost raw materials alone, and that is before you count the hours of lost production.

The frustrating part is that most of these situations are not caused by human error. They are caused by storage equipment that was never designed for complete discharge or fast changeovers in the first place. Internal bolt heads that trap material. Stiffeners that create dead zones. Surfaces that resist cleaning instead of supporting it.

The problem is not that people do not clean properly. The problem is that the equipment makes it harder than it needs to be.

From idea to patent pending. Today is a proud day at BM Silo!

Our vertical auger mixing technology is now patent pending, and it is a milestone we have been working towards for years.

The Auger Mixing Silo homogenises dry materials inside the silo before they reach the production line. That means stable, consistent output whether you are processing plastic granules, regranulate, grain, coffee beans or feed.

For the plastics and recycling industry, it ensures a stable melt index and uniform colour consistency across batches. For agriculture and food processing, it delivers consistent material quality and removes the risk of demixing during discharge.

In both cases, the need for recalibration between batches is eliminated. Less downtime, more predictable production.

The Ø230mm mixing screw with continuous incremental pitch operates at 50 rpm and maintains a low temperature to avoid stringing. Motor and bearing are designed for 15,000 hours of operation, corresponding to around 2,500 batches at 6 hours of mixing time.

And like everything we make, the Auger Mixing Silo is modular, flat-packed, and can be shipped anywhere in the world.

Some of the silos we built over a decade ago are still running every single day. Same steel. Same structure. No replacement parts.

That is what galvanised steel and modular construction actually deliver when the engineering is done right from the start. Not a product that works for a few years and then needs upgrading, but a storage solution that becomes part of your operation for the long run.

Our silos are manufactured in hot-dip galvanised steel with smooth interior panels, no inner stiffeners, and all bolts mounted externally. That combination means less wear, easier cleaning, and a surface that holds up year after year, even with daily use and high-pressure washing.

The modular design also means you are not locked into what you buy today. If your capacity needs change, you add sections. The foundation stays, the system grows.
