The view from our Copenhagen office for the last week (and yes the water has frozen over!) 🌨🇩🇰

This may look very pretty but it can have serious ramifications on our vessels trading in areas such as the Arctic, Baltic and North Atlantic regions. Vessels may be unable to enter frozen ports or become stuck until freed from the ice! ❄️

Part of the role of our skillful operators is to work closely with local agents, ice breakers and consult resources such as ice charts to ensure our ships are free to trade as unrestrictedly as possible. 🚢 🌏

Our first newbuilding from Japan! 🇯🇵 🎊 🇩🇰

Recently Nordic Tankers’ latest vessel "Nordic Ace" was named and launched at a ceremony in Japan. It was a traditional Japanese ceremony complete with the cutting of the mooring rope with an axe, followed by fanfare and fireworks as the vessel slipped gracefully into the water.

Our good vessel is now undergoing the final touches and will enter into service on the 5th of April. Watch the festivities below:

Stowage plans - often our vessels carry over 20 different cargo parcels on one voyage!

When devising a stow plan there are a myriad of considerations ranging from port sequences, draft restrictions, cleaning requirements to parcel compatibility

To work it all out the best place to start is with a sharp pencil, an eraser and a piece of paper!

While we are in port it is not as busy however it provides a vital birds eye view during mooring and unmooring. This is essential for overall communication and safety

Last night we arrived at our first discharge port on the river Thames

I saw first hand the very meaning of Team-Spirit through the incredible coordination between our crew, the pilot, tug boat and those on land to bring our vessel safely to berth

(It may look peaceful here but the conditions were so rough that the pilot was almost cancelled)

Day 1 and I have learned the real meaning of "Getting your sea legs" but with clear skies today it looks like smooth sailing ahead

More importantly I've already been given a tour of the ship with the chief office and learned valuable lessons that I will bring back to my work at the office

I've learned the importance of communication, not just between those on board but between those at land and sea as well
