Meet our fleet ⛴️ Today, we’re taking a closer look at our ferry Dardanelles Seaways, one of the ferries connecting Italy and Türkiye 🇮🇹🇹🇷

She carries up to 3,735 lane metres of freight for our customers - that’s a whole lot of cargo on the move 🚛 🚚 

Working below deck in the engine room is Third Engineer Gülseren Erdoğan ⚙️

Her day revolves around monitoring and maintaining the ship’s engines and machinery, performing planned maintenance and troubleshooting technical issues 🧰 🔧  

“What I enjoy most about working at sea is the strong teamwork on board, the technical challenges that help me improve my skills, and the unique experience of working in a maritime environment,” says Gülseren 🌊

Batuhan is a Third Engineer on board Sumela Seaways 🛠️

He sails between France and Türkiye, spending days at sea doing what he loves most: Keeping the ship running smoothly ⛴️

“I enjoy being part of the team and it’s satisfying to know your work is essential to the ship’s operation,” he says.

He joined DFDS 3 years ago for our strong safety culture and the chance to keep learning throughout his career 💡

How do you move a cable reel that’s 9 meters wide and weighs 50 tonnes? 🧐

You call in our High & Heavy and Project Cargo team - a small crew built for big challenges 💪🏽

Once a shipment goes beyond standard dimensions, the team takes over and makes sure the giant cargo goes where it needs to go📍 

The cable reel was too high for the main deck, so the team had to load directly to the weather deck with a crane. To protect the cargo and vessel, flats were loaded first to distribute the weight and allow a safe area for shipment and lashing ⛴️

Another day, another challenge: A huge metal ring arrived in Gothenburg that simply wouldn’t fit through the terminal gate. There was no safe way to drive it in our out – so the team changed the plan: Instead of going through, they went over the fence, placing it safely on the other side 🏗️

For our customers it’s one booking - and for us behind the scenes, it’s teamwork, timing and problem-solving at its best ✅

Our ferry King Seaways connects Amsterdam-Newcastle on a 17-hour voyage ⏰

Deep below deck, Second Engineer Andreas Albæk Christensen keeps the heart of the ship beating ⚙️

Together with the rest of the engine room team, he prepares the engine room for arrival and departure, troubleshoot faults, do repairs and keeps the machinery operating safely.

All with one goal in mind: Making sure every crossing runs smoothly 👏🏼
