How can cities better assess the impact of CCAM on mobility and logistics? 🌍

On 16 December 2024, MOVE2CCAM hosted a key workshop at our offices as part of Activity 8, unveiling the demo version of the IAMT tool—an innovative solution developed within the project.

The Impact Assessment and Modelling Tool (IAMT) evaluates the multidimensional effects of Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) scenarios for passenger and freight transport, providing valuable insights at a regional level across various time horizons.

Using system dynamics, the IAMT tool aims to:
✅ Enable policy-makers to make evidence-based decisions for societal benefit,
✅ Improve Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs), and
✅ Strengthen local and regional governance in urban mobility and logistics innovation.

This workshop brought together stakeholders from diverse sectors to offer feedback, ensuring the tool evolves to meet user needs as we progress towards the final version. Witnessing the collaboration and its influence on shaping the tool has been truly inspiring!

How are increasing car sizes impacting urban mobility and sustainability in our cities? 🌆

As recent research by Transport & Environment reveals, cars are getting 1 cm wider every two years. This trend poses challenges for urban spaces, contributing to congestion, increased emissions, and reduced pedestrian and cycling safety.

How is Helmond paving the way for the introduction of automated transport services through Move2CCAM? 🚐

Gain insights into the initial reactions of citizens as they step into the world of automated vehicles. Through both physical demonstrations, from Automated Buses to shuttles and delivery vehicles and immersive virtual reality experiences, participants not only experienced a short trip inside automated vehicles but also learned about their functionalities and how they operate. Moreover, it was an opportunity to get the feedback of citizens on the virtual reality game, where participants virtually travelled in an automated bus or car in various conditions.

Move2CCAM partners are collaborating to identify gaps and use cases to determine if/how these innovative forms of mobility could complement the public transport options and integrate the goods delivery systems. By embracing automated vehicles, Helmond aims to enhance the livability of the city and to acknowledge the impacts it can have on emissions, safety, and traffic flows.

Embark on this short journey with us and see how automated vehicles could shape the cities of tomorrow! 🛣️

Did you catch our presentation at ? 🚀

Our project coordinator, Héctor Canas, unveiled the interim results of our project during the first day's sessions. After 18 months of diligent effort, Move2CCAM has achieved:

-Completion of 5 co-creation activities involving organizations and citizens across 8 countries.
-Launch of 3 VR games in Helmond, North Aegean, and GZM.
-Hosting and development of an AV Demo featuring 3 autonomous vehicles (shuttle bus, e-bus, and delivery bot) in Helmond.

Under the guidance of our Project Officer, Andrea Arcelli, we shared the stage with SINFONICA, FAME, and SUNRISE. This provided us with an opportunity to engage with the CCAM community and address pertinent questions concerning societal issues and user needs.

During our presentation, attendees expressed particular interest in how we are considering and assessing impact in rural areas, as well as any specific concerns from citizens regarding onboarding conditions in AVs. 🌳

Answers to these queries will be revealed in our next deliverable, D3.4 Satellites' Needs, Impact Analysis, and Mapping. Stay tuned for updates!
