AsiaBerlin

AsiaBerlin, an initiative by the Berlin Senate, is a collective platform connecting startup ecosystems in Asia and Berlin.

The network between the start-up hubs Berlin, Bangalore, Manila and Jakarta facilitates the access of startups to market and distribution, finance and investment, administrative and political support, production, research as well as talents, networks and infrastructure in the other hubs to achieve professionalization and direct cooperation between start-ups. It involves various Berlin and Asian st

akeholders from start-up hubs that are responsible for creating productive ecosystems: startups, corporates, incubators, accelerators, venture capitalists, co-working spaces etc. StartUp AsiaBerlin is a neutral player for connecting and supplying information to interested stakeholders. StartUp AsiaBerlin is a project established by Berlin´s Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the Impact Hub (Social Impact) Manila, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce in Bangalore, and PLUS: Platform Usaha Sosial Jakarta. The project is co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).The network is open for growth, other hubs/cities are invited to join and boost the network.

🌍 Ecosystem Tours at AsiaBerlin Summit 2025

At AsiaBerlin Summit 2025, Ecosystem Tours were designed to move beyond the stage and into the real operating environment of Berlin’s startup and innovation landscape.

Across guided booth tours, curated walkthroughs, and city-wide visits, participants explored how Berlin’s ecosystem works in practice - from public support structures and international expansion hubs to sector-focused innovation clusters in AI, GreenTech, HealthTech, Mobility, and FinTech.

These tours connected founders, investors, policymakers, and ecosystem builders directly with institutions, programs, and people enabling cross-border growth, offering practical insight into market entry, talent access, public-sector support, and collaboration opportunities between Asia and Europe.

The Ecosystem Tours played a key role in translating conversations into context, connections, and real collaboration pathways, reinforcing Berlin’s position as a gateway for Asian innovators and a partner ecosystem for global growth.

Organised as part of AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 by Asia Berlin Forum e.V., these tours strengthened cross-ecosystem understanding and opened doors for long-term partnerships beyond the Summit week.

AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 brought two days of high-level discussions, cross-continental collaboration, and sector-driven innovation - uniting founders, policymakers, investors, and ecosystem leaders at Rotes Rathaus and partner venues across Berlin.

AsiaBerlin Summit 2025: What Happened on the Main Stage

The main program of AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 showcased the strength of Asia–Europe cooperation, with two days of keynotes, fireside chats, and panels led by global experts.

Speakers from government, industry, and leading startup ecosystems shared practical insights on scaling innovation, navigating global markets, building sustainable tech, and preparing for the AI-native era. Asian-German Growth & Hustle Stories - Event Highlight

🚀 As part of the AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 Satellite Event series, Asian-German Growth & Hustle Stories highlighted the entrepreneurial journeys shaping Berlin’s cross-cultural innovation landscape. The session explored how founders from Asian backgrounds are creating new pathways in Germany’s startup economy.

📍 Hosted on 26 November at Engelnest Coworking Space, the event examined the rise of Asian professionals who are navigating labour market challenges and turning them into opportunities by building successful businesses in Berlin. Contributors shared insights on resilience, market adaptation, and the realities of scaling across borders.

🌏 Organised by Employed. world and Pitchbazaar, the programme also created space for German founders expanding into Asian markets, fostering dialogue between both communities. The evening concluded with a German-style Stammtisch, encouraging open conversation and peer connections.

Berlin Deep Tech Nexus Meetup #8 - Event Highlight

🤖 As part of the AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 Satellite Event series, the Deep Tech Nexus Meetup returned for its eighth edition, hosted at of Applied Sciences-one of Germany’s top-ranked institutions in the German Startup Monitor 2025. The session brought together researchers, founders, and industry experts to explore the latest developments across robotics, automation, and frontier technologies.

📍 Held on 26 November, the meetup offered an informal environment for exchanging insights across AI, quantum, biotech, energy, and smart manufacturing. Global Start Up Program Demo Day: Italian Innovation Meets Berlin Energy! - Event Highlight

🇮🇹 As part of the AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 Satellite Event series, the Global Start Up Program Demo Day brought eight Italian startups to the stage at for an evening focused on impact-driven entrepreneurship and cross-border collaboration.

📍 Held on 26 November, the session marked the culmination of a four-week programme delivered by Impact Hub Berlin and Feedel Ventures, based on a format developed by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA). Startups presented solutions across climate innovation, circular economy, and digital technologies, showcasing how “Made in Italy” is evolving within today’s impact ecosystem.

🌏 The event featured founder pitches, a keynote on Italy–Germany innovation pathways, and networking with investors, ecosystem partners, and innovation professionals. Strategic IP for Start-Ups: From Concept to Market - Event Highlight

💡 As part of the AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 Satellite Event series, this session at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik offered a practical introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) for early-stage founders, innovators, and product teams.

📍 Held on 26 November at Haus Gauß B501, the programme focused on how start-ups can use patents, trademarks, designs, and copyright as strategic assets to secure investment, strengthen market positioning, and support international expansion. Participants learned how IP frameworks impact commercialisation and global growth.

🌏 The session was led by Veronica Hall-Velez, an international lawyer specialising in IP law, who outlined cost-efficient protection strategies and provided a comparative look at German, European, and selected Asian IP systems. Guidance on filings through DPMA, EPO, and EUIPO helped founders understand practical next steps.

CVC / Open Innovation Summit Europe - Event Highlight

🏛️ As part of the AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 Satellite Event series, the CVC / Open Innovation Summit Europe convened senior leaders in corporate venture capital, innovation, and strategy for a full-day programme in Berlin.

📍 Held on 25–26 November, the Summit gathered around 80 international executives at CxO and SVP level to examine Europe’s position amid geopolitical uncertainty, technological dependency, and the transition toward new economic and governance models. Discussions focused on mobilising strategic capital, advancing deep tech, and strengthening long-term resilience.

🌏 The agenda featured keynotes, high-level panels, and closed-door roundtables on topics including AI and robotics, energy security, infrastructure transformation, and the evolution of capital models beyond growth-at-all-costs.
