Die Geschichte des Unternehmens ist eng verbunden mit dem Berliner Glühlampenwerk Osram. Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges und der beginnenden Teilung Deutschlands wurde auch der Osram-Konzern aufgeteilt. So produzierte ab 1949 das im Ost-Berliner Bezirk Friedrichshain befindliche ehemalige Osram-Werk D (Drahtwerk) fortan als VEB Berliner Glühlampenwerk „Rosa Luxemburg“. ( )

29 years ago, the Berlin wall came down. It was all a big accident, a minor government functionary failed to grasp some important detail because he hadn't been to an important meeting, said something wrong at a press conference, everyone in Berlin went to the checkpoints, one was opened and that was that. And here is THE note he was reading from and it's the first time I've seen it.

Went to a gallery in the outskirts of Berlin yesterday. It was great to see a creative way of dealing with these ‘problem quarters’ that used to be perfectly standard housing before 1989. How was the change determined from the outside? The wallpaper is newspaper articles from (from before 1989) about housing shortages due to property speculation in West Germany. Especially poignant was that one of the places where these projects were run, Dresden , post 1989 a whole housing cooperative was sold to an American investor. @ Hellersdorf (Berlin U-Bahn)
