1️⃣ Nap for 2–3 hours MAX. Resist the urge to sleep longer—if you stay in bed, you’ll ruin your night!
2️⃣ Take a quick shower to reset your body.
3️⃣ Hit the streets! Getting out in the light keeps you awake and sets your internal clock.

Push through that first afternoon, or you’ll crash hard by 3 PM and struggle for the rest of the trip.

Ever stopped at a grocery store in Italy for fresh fruit? 🍑🇮🇹

Here’s how it worked at this store: I put on a produce glove, selected and bagged my fruit, found its number on the display sign, and entered that number at the scale. The scale weighed it and printed a price label for the bag.

It’s a small travel detail, but knowing it ahead of time makes the grocery stop much easier. Have you tried shopping for groceries while traveling?

Here’s a travel money tip from a real grocery checkout in Europe. My total was €48.44, and the card terminal offered a currency conversion with a 3.5% markup.

I selected euros so the purchase stayed in the local currency. Take a moment to check the options whenever a card machine asks whether you want to pay in dollars or euros.

Important update for Global Entry travelers: The Global Entry mobile app has been replaced by the new DHS Trusted Traveler app.

I went through the changeover step by step. Download the official app from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, then confirm that your membership information is correct.

The new app provides access to Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI and FAST services. Depending on eligibility, travelers can report their arrival, manage membership information, apply or renew, and access interview scheduling.

Your active membership has not been canceled, so do not submit another application unnecessarily.
