Whether you’re a commuter, a holidaymaker or a transport company employee, everyone knows the feeling:
🚍️ You miss your connection or are waiting for the bus, and suddenly it disappears from the display.

At that moment, the passenger’s frustration takes over, but what’s really behind it:
An accident?
Faulty signals?
Staff shortages?

What challenges are you currently facing?

At the KAMO: Karlsruhe Mobility High Performance Center Centre of Excellence in Karlsruhe, leading partners from the fields of research, academia and technology transfer are working on sustainable mobility and logistics solutions.

The Country to City Bridge (C2CBridge) project focuses on autonomous, connected and on-demand shuttle buses. These are designed to better connect rural and urban areas and, together with mobility hubs and existing transport services, create a flexible alternative to private cars.

Initial findings from surveys in Marxzell and Waldbronn show that there is potential for on-demand services, particularly for shopping, leisure activities and connections to railway stations. At the same time, important insights are being gained into mobility needs, acceptance and requirements for future mobility hubs.

With the planned mock-up hub at Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) Campus East, virtual studies on interchange points and the further development of the two test vehicles, C2CBridge is now entering the next phase of the project.

The World of Public Mobility gathered in Karlsruhe for the VDV Annual Conference – a strong signal of Karlsruhe’s status as a hub for innovation and transport. We were particularly pleased about the exchange between CEO ofMesse Karlsruhe Britta Wirtz and UITP President Gautier Brodeo. Together, we discussed international perspectives, digitalisation and the role of IT-TRANS as a global platform for IT solutions in urban mobility. Karlsruhe brings together the industry, innovation and international dialogue – we are already looking forward to the next IT-TRANS on 1–2 February 2028 😍

🚆 More people in Germany are using public transport – that’s great news 🚊

We can see it:
Busier platforms.
Fuller trains.
More conversations on the move.

More and more people are choosing trains and buses over cars.

Why?
✅ Growing environmental awareness
✅ The Deutschlandticket making travel simpler
✅ Companies rethinking mobility
✅ Cities becoming more liveable

Mobility is no longer just about getting from A to B.
It’s a statement. For sustainability. For efficiency. For the future.

But here’s the real question:
➡️ Are the structural and political conditions for transport companies now such that they can respond to these challenges?
➡️ What is needed?

We’d love to hear your thoughts 👇
