At the KAMO: Karlsruhe Mobility High Performance Center Centre of Excellence in Karlsruhe, leading partners from the fields of research, academia and technology transfer are working on sustainable mobility and logistics solutions.
The Country to City Bridge (C2CBridge) project focuses on autonomous, connected and on-demand shuttle buses. These are designed to better connect rural and urban areas and, together with mobility hubs and existing transport services, create a flexible alternative to private cars.
Initial findings from surveys in Marxzell and Waldbronn show that there is potential for on-demand services, particularly for shopping, leisure activities and connections to railway stations. At the same time, important insights are being gained into mobility needs, acceptance and requirements for future mobility hubs.
With the planned mock-up hub at Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) Campus East, virtual studies on interchange points and the further development of the two test vehicles, C2CBridge is now entering the next phase of the project.
