In a world shaped by disruption and geopolitical uncertainty, agility is no longer optional. Customers need reliable schedules, greater visibility, smarter planning tools, and partners who listen and adapt.

In our Customer Experience Survey we want to understand what quality must look like tomorrow. Your feedback has already helped us move forward: with continuously updated Live ETA information, around 90% schedule reliability through Gemini, smarter route planning with Service Explorer, and a faster, more intuitive digital journey.

Now we want to hear from you again. If you have received an invitation, just a few minutes are enough to make a difference. Your feedback helps us understand what works well, where we must adapt, and how we can continue raising the bar on our journey to become your Undisputed Number One for Quality.

Thank you for sharing your experience and helping us shape what comes next.

Dangerously good to know: Not all cargo can be handled equally on board. Some has to be classified first and handled as Dangerous Goods after. ⚠️

If substances or items can pose a risk to human health and safety, the infrastructure or transportation mode, they are labeled as Dangerous Goods. Based on their primary hazard, the UN Model Regulations classify them into nine different classes.

Have a look at the classes and let us know in the comments, what Dangerous Goods you are shipping next with us!

What makes decarbonization credible?

At Hapag-Lloyd, Ship Green* enables customers to allocate certified alternative fuels to their bookings through Book & Claim. Equally important is how that fuel is allocated.

Each quarter, customers receive a declaration of the alternative fuel batches allocated to them. The stated well-to-wake emissions reduction is calculated from the carbon intensity of those batches, not a network average.

As ‌David Remmers, Manager Decarbonization Products, explains, this means every declared reduction is linked to specific fuel batches that customers can name in their own reporting.

*Ship Green is a service that can be added to a Hapag-Lloyd ocean shipment. Hapag-Lloyd uses certified alternative fuels for part of its fuel consumption within its network and allocates the associated emission reductions to booked Ship Green shipments through a Book & Claim approach. This does not necessarily mean that a specific shipment is physically transported on vessels using these alternative fuels. Ship Green 25, 50 and 100 refer to the share of a shipment's energy allocated to certified alternative fuels, not to the percentage of emissions reduced. The numbers currently correspond to Well-to-Wake emission reductions of at least 21%, 42% and 84% compared with conventional transport using Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO). It takes quite a terminal to frame a 400-meter vessel. ⚓

Our "Tihama" is pictured at Terminal Burchardkai in Hamburg, surrounded by container cranes and rows of cargo stretching across the deck.

The vessel regularly connects ports across Asia and Northern Europe, from Shanghai, Yantian and Singapore to Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp and London Gateway.

Which of these ports would you most like to see from on board? ⬇️

From agreement to action: what does it take to make alternative fuels work in practice?

Hapag-Lloyd has successfully completed its first SIMOPS bunkering of ISCC EU-certified biomethanol supplied by Goldwind to the Seaspan Amazon in Busan, South Korea.

The operation marks an important step in bringing alternative marine fuels from production to practical use. Produced at Goldwind’s integrated facility in Hinggan League, China, the biomethanol was delivered through an international supply chain and bunkered while other vessel and port activities continued in parallel.

The milestone builds on the long-term fuel supply agreement signed in 2024, under which Goldwind is expected to supply 250,000 tonnes of a blend of bio- and e-methanol annually from the end of 2027. By securing an early biomethanol delivery, both companies are already gaining operational experience and advancing the logistics required for future large-scale supply.

Together with recent biomethanol bunkering operations involving the Seaspan Amazon, and Seaspan Yangtze, this delivery provides valuable experience as Hapag-Lloyd prepares additional vessels capable of operating on methanol.
