With a fleet of 280 modern container ships and a total transport capacity of 2.1 million TEU, Hapag-Lloyd is one of the world’s leading liner shipping companies. The NE2 Service connects major ports in Northern Europe with important Asian hubs, creating reliable links between production centres, logistics gateways, and global markets. Running from Hamburg and Rotterdam to Shanghai, Yantian and Singapore, the service supports the efficient flow of cargo across different regions.

What makes the NE2 Service stand out? It offers direct connections between North Europe and Central and South China; access to Southeast Asia and Oceania via Tanjung Pelepas; connections to Korea and Japan via Shanghai; and links to the Mediterranean via Tangier.

A major milestone on our decarbonization journey together with Seaspan Corporation.

We have completed the first conversion in our joint methanol retrofit program. The 10,100 TEU charter vessel “Seaspan Yangtze” has been successfully upgraded to dual fuel operation, making it capable of running on methanol.

This is the first of five planned retrofits and a concrete step toward our target of net zero fleet operations by 2045. When operating on low carbon methanol, each conversion can reduce emissions by around 30,000 to 50,000 metric tons of CO2e per vessel per year.

It shows what is possible when technical innovation meets strong partnerships and it helps customers move toward more sustainable supply chains.
