🚋 Only 33 days to go until the 12th European TramDriver Championship in Warsaw! On 19 September 2026, 25 European teams from 24 countries will come together in the heart of the Polish capital. As the 26th team, we are also delighted to welcome two drivers from Melbourne – host city of the 2nd World TramDriver Championship. 🌍
The competitions will take place on Marszałkowska, right in front of Warsaw’s famous Palace of Culture and Science. For visitors, the location is ideal: it is central, easy to reach on foot and very well connected by metro, tram and bus.

Our tips for your trip to Warsaw:
🚆 Arrival: If you travel by train, you will arrive right in the city centre. From Warszawa Centralna, it is only a short walk to the Palace of Culture and Science and the competition route.
🚋 Getting around: Warsaw has one integrated ticket system for metro, tram and bus. Time tickets are especially convenient – for example for 75 minutes, one day or several days.
📍 Orientation: The Palace of Culture and Science is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks – and a perfect meeting point. Still, allow a little extra time, as the area around the event is expected to be busy.
🎉 The programme starts at 10 a.m. with the presentation of all teams on the show stage. The competition begins at 11 a.m., followed by the second scoring round from 2 to 4 p.m. The award ceremony is planned for 5 p.m. The European TramDriver Championship will be accompanied by a large family festival where Warsaw Public Transport will also present its services. Admission is free – come along and experience Europe’s best tram drivers live!

🚋 Noch 33 Tage bis zur 12. Straßenbahn Europameisterschaft in Warschau! Am 19. September 2026 treffen sich 25 europäische Teams aus 24 Ländern im Herzen der polnischen Hauptstadt. Als 26. Team begrüßen wir außerdem zwei Fahrer*innen aus Melbourne – dem Austragungsort der 2. Straßenbahn Weltmeisterschaft. 🌍
Die Wettbewerbe finden auf der Marszałkowska statt – direkt vor dem bekannten Warschauer Kulturpalast. Für Besucher*innen ist das ideal: Der Ort liegt zentral, ist gut zu Fuß erreichbar und bestens an Metro, Straßenbahn und Bus angebunden.

Unsere Tipps für eure Reise nach Warschau:
🚆 Anreise: Wer mit der Bahn kommt, landet mitten in der Stadt. Vom Hauptbahnhof Warszawa Centralna sind es nur wenige Gehminuten bis zum Kulturpalast und zur Wettkampfstrecke.
🚋 Mobil vor Ort: In Warschau gilt ein gemeinsames Ticketsystem für Metro, Straßenbahn und Bus. Besonders praktisch sind Zeitkarten – zum Beispiel für 75 Minuten, einen Tag oder mehrere Tage.
📍 Orientierung: Der Kulturpalast ist eines der markantesten Gebäude der Stadt – und damit ein perfekter Treffpunkt. Plant dennoch etwas Zeit ein, denn rund um das Event wird viel los sein.
🎉 Das Programm startet um 10 Uhr mit der Präsentation aller Teams auf der Showbühne. Um 11 Uhr beginnt der Wettbewerb, der zweite Wertungslauf findet von 14 bis 16 Uhr statt. Die Siegerehrung ist für 17 Uhr geplant. Begleitet wird die Straßenbahn Europameisterschaft von einem großen Familienfest, bei dem sich auch die Warschauer Verkehrsbetriebe mit ihren Dienstleistungen präsentieren. Der Eintritt ist frei – kommt vorbei und erlebt Europas beste Straßenbahnfahrer*innen live!

There is a 26th team – and we couldn’t be happier about it: Melbourne is back! 🎉 After Leipzig 2022, the Australian team is joining the European competition for the second time, bringing a truly international spirit to the tracks. 🚋🌏 And there is a good reason for Melbourne to take part: the city will host the 2nd Tram World Championship and is using the European Championship to gain valuable experience both as a competing driving team and in organising such an event, while also measuring itself against teams from across Europe. With around 245 kilometres of tram network, about 1,800 stops and more than 200 million passengers a year, Melbourne has one of the largest tram networks in the world. All the more reason for us to be delighted to welcome the team back. Welcome, Melbourne! 🇦🇺👏

Es gibt ein 26. Team – und darüber freuen wir uns riesig: Melbourne ist wieder mit dabei! 🎉 Nach Leipzig 2022 reist das australische Team bereits zum zweiten Mal zum europäischen Wettbewerb an – und bringt damit echtes internationales Flair auf die Strecke. 🚋🌏 Die Teilnahme kommt nicht von ungefähr: Melbourne ist Gastgeber der 2. Straßenbahn-Weltmeisterschaft und nutzt die EM, um wertvolle Erfahrungen zu sammeln – auch in der Organisation eines solchen Events – und sich mit den europäischen Teams zu messen. Mit rund 245 Kilometern Streckennetz, etwa 1.800 Haltestellen und mehr als 200 Millionen Fahrgästen pro Jahr gehört Melbournes Straßenbahnnetz zu den größten der Welt. 🚋 New faces: At the 12th European TramDriver Championship in Warsaw, three teams are celebrating their debut – each bringing its own tram story. Odense represents a fresh start: the Danish city’s modern tram system opened in 2022, stretches around 14 kilometres and connects Tarup in the northwest with Hjallese in the south.
Sofia, by contrast, brings more than 120 years of tram tradition. The Bulgarian capital’s network is one of Europe’s major tram systems and is especially known for its unusual 1009-millimetre track gauge.
London adds a touch of South London flair: Tramlink has connected Croydon with destinations such as Wimbledon, Beckenham Junction and New Addington since 2000 – across a network of around 28 kilometres. Three newcomers, three different networks, three strong debuts: welcome to the Tram-EM, Odense, Sofia and London! ✨🏆🌍

🚋 Neue Gesichter: Bei der 12. Straßenbahn-EM in Warschau feiern gleich drei Teams Premiere – und jedes bringt seine ganz eigene Tram-Geschichte mit. Odense steht für einen jungen Neustart: Das moderne Straßenbahnsystem der dänischen Stadt wurde erst 2022 eröffnet, ist rund 14 Kilometer lang und verbindet Tarup im Nordwesten mit Hjallese im Süden.
Sofia bringt dagegen über 120 Jahre Straßenbahntradition mit. Das Netz der bulgarischen Hauptstadt gehört zu den großen Tram-Systemen Europas und ist besonders durch seine ungewöhnliche Spurweite von 1009 Millimetern bekannt.

Joining the line-up are defending champion Budapest, host city Warsaw, and teams from Barcelona, Bratislava, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Gothenburg, Istanbul, Kyiv, London, Luxembourg, Lyon, Milan, Odense, Oradea, Oslo, Prague, Riga, Rotterdam, Sofia, Tampere, Vienna, Zagreb and Zurich. In addition of our European participants we are looking forward to welcoming our friends from Melbourne. Sunny regards from Warsaw our host city of TRAM-EM 2026. During the last two days we worked on many details for the upcoming championships on September 19, 2026. We will present the competitions in the heart of Polands capital surrounded by a big familiy festival for public transport. We will have best conditions for the games with wonderful hospitality.
