From ambition to action.

This year’s World Maritime Day is dedicated to “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence” – highlighting what it takes to turn maritime standards and ambitions into meaningful action.

At Harren Group, that journey takes many forms.

It means introducing alternative fuels and improving the efficiency of our existing fleet. Investing in new vessels and technologies designed for the shipping of tomorrow. Strengthening a safety culture built on awareness, responsibility and speaking up. And continuously developing the skills and competence of our people at sea and ashore.

There is no single measure that creates more sustainable, safer and more efficient shipping. It is the combination of many actions – and the people who put them into practice every day – that moves our industry forward.

More than 350 people, one Harren family. 💚

Our annual Harren Group Summer Party once again brought together about 170 colleagues and their families for an afternoon and evening filled with good food, music, laughter and plenty of fun for our youngest guests.

And this year was extra special: with Officers’ Seminar taking place at the same time, we were delighted to welcome many of our seafarers to join the celebrations, too.

From bouncy castles and kids’ activities to ice cream, BBQ and drinks – there was something for everyone. But what made the day truly special was simply spending time together beyond the office and the vessels.

Because at Harren Group, being a team is about more than working together. It’s about bringing people together – on shore, at sea and with the families who are part of the journey.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this year’s Summer Party such a wonderful one!

Different departments. Different sailing experience. One crew.

Last weekend, a team of Harren Group colleagues swapped desks for deck shoes and took part in this year’s Peter Gast Schiffahrtsregatta.

Bringing together colleagues from across the Group – from experienced sailors to those with less time at the helm – the day was all about working as a team, learning from each other and, of course, enjoying some friendly competition out on the water.

Because teamwork isn’t limited to the office. Sometimes, it means hoisting the sails, finding the right course and making it across the finish line together.

A great day on the water and an even better team experience. Thanks to everyone who was part of it!

We remain certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, ensuring consistent standards for quality, environmental management, and occupational health and safety across the organisation.

We also continued to engage with key industry organisations and initiatives such as the Getting to Zero Coalition and the Global Maritime Forum, supporting long-term decarbonisation and industry collaboration.

In 2025, we further enhanced our internal reporting, performance monitoring, and compliance processes to strengthen transparency and support data-driven decision-making at a group level.

What does environmental progress look like at Harren Group?

For us, it means continuously improving the efficiency of our fleet through targeted investments, operational optimisation, and new technologies.

The Harren Group Sustainability Report 2026 highlights the progress achieved in 2025, including further fleet renewal, efficiency upgrades, expanded use of alternative fuels, and enhanced digital performance monitoring.

At Harren Group, we continued to strengthen our environmental performance through the introduction of next-generation Orca Class vessels, the use of low-friction hull coatings, and the adoption of biofuels in line with FuelEU Maritime requirements.

In 2025 alone, more than 1,100 tonnes of biofuel were used, resulting in a reduction of approximately 2,500 tonnes of CO₂ compared with conventional fuels.

Together with ongoing investments in fleet efficiency and data-driven optimisation, these measures support our commitment to reducing emissions and improving operational performance across our global fleet.

Because environmental performance is not a standalone initiative – it is part of how we operate every day.

They transport the cargoes that power industries, support communities and connect global supply chains. Yet much of their work happens far from public view – often under demanding conditions and with significant responsibility.

On the Day of the Seafarer, we recognize not only the vital contribution seafarers make to global trade, but also the challenges they face and the commitment they demonstrate every day at sea.
