Liberty Pier closely monitors the decisions of the council of the EU concerning the “Fit for 55” package and we feel happy and relieved to see that the MEPs and EU governments reached an agreement on the reformation of the ETS - especially as now maritime shipping emissions are within the scope of the European ETS. It emphasizes the importance of our work and the need for shipping to change!

The Council and the European Parliament reached a provisional political agreement on important legislative proposals of the ‘Fit for 55’ package that will further reduce emissions and address their social impacts. The deal is provisional pending formal adoption in both institutions.
