Berliner Mauerweg day 5 in my series where I show you what it’s like to walk the entire 160km trail where the Berlin Wall once stood.

This day I started at the Schönholz Sbahn station. After a few minutes on unremarkable streets, I turned onto a path that parallels the Sbahn tracks. It is mostly lined with trees for a few kilometers, so even though it’s still in the city, it felt like I was away from the chaos.

I walked past some industrial buildings and then apartment buildings. And eventually I ended my walk for the day at the Rosenthal Nord tram stop.

Distance walked: 5.7km

Here’s a little about me and the type of Berlin content you can expect to see here.

Hi, I’m Ali. I’m a 45 year old local Berlin blogger & content creator. I’ve been living in Berlin 11+ years, 15 years total in Germany, but I’m from the US. I show midlife travelers how to see the best of Berlin without the stress.

I’ll show you things to do in Berlin, how to use Berlin public transport, nature spots, day trips from Berlin, and lots of other advice to help you plan and enjoy your trip to Berlin.

I don’t go to clubs. I’m not into fashion. So you can expect a more laid back vibe. No partying here.

I love nature so I’m always trying to find more place and time for hiking. But easy hikes.

I’m also trying to figure myself out. Again. Tackling the anxiety and learning who I really am.

Expect my cute dog, Zelda, to show up here too. She’s a 3.5kg Yorkie.

Follow me for Berlin tips & thanks for being here!

Berlin is so much more than the club scene. The nightlife in Berlin is legendary for good reason, but if you're like me and you're not interested in partying, there's still so much in Berlin to enjoy.

I'm 46 years old, I've lived in Berlin for 11+ years, and l've never been to a club. It's not my thing, I don't like the crowds or the loud.

I want to show you the Berlin | love. The nature, the calm corners of the city, the fascinating history, the sights that are worthwhile, and the tours that will make your trip better.

If you want to see the side of Berlin that doesn't revolve around clubs, stick around and follow me for more Berlin tips.

Today was a rough day for me, haven’t slept well in days, dog was being crazy, and it felt like everything was falling apart.

But on our hopefully last dog walk of the day, we were rewarded with this gorgeous Berlin sunset lighting up the sky and the TV Tower.

Today marks the 36th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. You can still find many pieces and full sections of the Wall all around the city, and the area where the Wall once stood is now a cycling and hiking trail that stretches 160km (100 miles) around what was once West Berlin.

I've hiked the whole thing, and it's super interesting to go from city to countryside and back again. I might have to do the whole thing again at some point.

Here are some photos of the Berlin Wall remains as well as some sections of the trail.

Saturday is a great day for markets in Berlin. Fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers, meats, cheeses, flowers, spices, bread, and so much more. There’s usually several stalls where you can get lunch too. And lots of non food items. I especially like Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain.
