IndiGo has temporarily suspended all flights to and from Kuwait until June 4, 2026, following the closure of Kuwaiti airspace after escalating regional security concerns and attacks affecting airport operations. Although Kuwait has since partially resumed airport operations, flight schedules remain heavily disrupted and airlines are continuing to monitor the situation.

IndiGo stated that passenger and crew safety remain its top priority and advised travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Affected passengers are being offered rebooking and refund options in line with the airline's disruption policies.

✈️🇩🇪 Germany Lifts Airport Transit Visa Requirement for Indian Nationals

Germany has officially removed the airport transit visa requirement for Indian nationals, making it easier for Indian travelers to connect through German airports without obtaining a separate transit visa. The change took effect on June 2, 2026, and applies to passengers who remain within the international transit area while connecting to a third country.

Previously, many Indian passport holders were required to obtain an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) even when they were only changing planes at airports such as Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, or Düsseldorf. The new policy removes that requirement, reducing costs and administrative procedures for travelers.

The exemption applies only to passengers who do not leave the international transit zone and who hold valid travel documents and onward tickets for their final destination. Travelers entering Germany or the Schengen Area will still need the appropriate visa or entry authorization.

✈️🇵🇹 Portugal Faces Major Transport Strike on June 3

Portugal is preparing for a major nationwide transport strike on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, with significant disruption expected across air travel, rail services, metros, ferries, and public transport as unions protest the government’s proposed labor reforms.

✈️🇮🇹 Italy General Strike on May 29 to Disrupt Flights Nationwide

Italy is preparing for a nationwide general strike on Friday, May 29, 2026, with major disruption expected across the country’s air travel network. Air traffic controllers and aviation staff are set to walk out, raising the risk of widespread flight cancellations and long delays at major airports including Rome Fiumicino, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Venice, and Palermo.

The aviation disruption is expected to be most severe outside Italy’s protected service windows of 7:00–10:00 AM and 6:00–9:00 PM, when airlines are required to operate a limited number of guaranteed flights. Services outside those time bands may face cancellations or significant delays.
