[PRESS] It is now a week since fire broke out in the final assembly of JMB Aircraft in Vysoke Myto, Czech Republic. We are thankful that there were no injuries to personnel, however, one aircraft was completely destroyed and several others suffered damage from ash and smoke.
The facility will now be closed for several weeks while cleaning takes place. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the impact on the site’s operations. Positive dialogue is ongoing with our insurers and we need to emphasise that the premises and contents are well covered by insurance.
Production at JMB Aircraft consists of 4 departments in 4 separate production facilities. Only the final assembly department is affected by the fire. We have deployed all necessary resources to restart the affected part of production and we are already working to have new aircraft in the sky during May.
Production speed has already been increased due to an influx
of orders at the beginning of the year, and we have the capabilities to increase it further to manage the current crisis. We are doing all we can to
ensure that customers still receive their aircraft with minimum delay.
On a more positive note, JMB Aircraft has already signed contracts for 18 new VL3 since the beginning of the year. Additionally, we sold another 11 aircraft at AERO Friedrichshafen. We thank our customers for their belief
that the VL3 is still the best light aircraft in the air today.
Finally, JMB Aircraft would like to thank our employees, customers and suppliers for their assistance over the past week. We greatly appreciate all help received during this time.
