Mediterranean season ahead - time to review your stern-to mooring setup. Traditional chain on the stern creates propeller fouling risk and storage headaches. Wet rope stays heavy, never fully dries, and can mildew below deck.

Ultraline Dyneema solves all three: 22mm flat floating line with 3200 Kgf breaking load - comparable strength to 6mm chain but stores flat on deck. Floats clear of propellers, dries quickly, simple cleat tie-off, and UV resistant for Med sun exposure.

Available in 40m, 60m, 80m, 100m lengths.

DIN vs ISO Chain: Why Getting Your Gypsy Size Right Matters

Most boat owners don't think about their anchor chain until something goes wrong. But choosing between DIN and ISO chain – and matching it correctly to your windlass gypsy – can mean the difference between safe anchoring and serious problems.

The Key Difference: It's All About Pitch
The critical difference between DIN chain (German standard) and ISO chain (International standard) lies in the pitch – the internal length of each chain link.

10mm chain example:
10mm DIN 766 chain: 28mm pitch (internal link length)
10mm ISO 4565 chain: 30mm pitch (internal link length)
The 2mm pitch difference is significant enough to cause jamming or skipping in a windlass gypsy designed for the wrong standard.

Size Matters
The pitch difference becomes more significant as chain size increases. Smaller chains (6mm-8mm) offer more forgiveness in gypsy compatibility, but larger chains (10mm+) require strict specification – even a 2mm variance can cause serious issues.

Why It Matters
Your windlass gypsy is machined to match specific chain pitch. Fit the wrong standard and you'll face chain slippage under load, premature wear, jamming when retrieving, and potential safety risks during deployment.

Getting It Right
Before ordering replacement chain:
Check your windlass specifications – they'll specify DIN 766 or ISO 4565
Verify both size AND pitch measurement
When replacing your windlass, match your existing chain standard
Keep chain specification documentation onboard

The Bottom Line
A 10mm chain isn't just a 10mm chain. Even a 2mm pitch difference between DIN 766 and ISO 4565 can cause serious operational issues.

Huge thanks to everyone who visited our three Ultra Marine Europe stands at boot Düsseldorf. The atmosphere was fantastic, and our stands were packed throughout the show.

It was great meeting so many boat owners and hearing about their real-world anchoring challenges. Our sand box demonstrations proved to be the star attraction - seeing the Ultra Anchor's patented lead-filled tip dig in and hold fast in real-time really shows why our anchors deliver the holding power and reliability you need when it matters most.

It was also wonderful to connect with boat builders exploring OEM partnerships and catch up with existing clients too. These face-to-face conversations are invaluable.

If we didn't get chance to connect at BOOT, or you'd like to discuss how Ultra Marine's premium anchoring solutions can give you total confidence at anchor, get in touch.

This innovative 316 stainless steel ring delivers two critical functions:

Emergency Recovery: When your anchor gets caught on rocks, debris, or cables, the Anchor Ring slides down your rode and helps free it - without diving in cold water, rough seas, or dangerous conditions.

Enhanced Safety: Acts as a chain weight (Kellet) to reduce swing area in crowded anchorages and works as a shock absorber for improved comfort at anchor.

Whether you're dealing with limited scope, busy anchorages, or just want peace of mind that you can recover your anchor when things go sideways - the Ultra Anchor Ring is the tool you hope you never need, but will be grateful to have.
