In March 2005 we met an Australian guy traveling around Europe on his way to Belgrade. He stayed in Belgrade’s first hostel, and in his one week he spent here, he talked us into starting one of our own. He told us everything about traveler needs, and what he liked about certain hostels and what it should look like. So since we were unable to travel freely in Europe (we still needed visa’s for all
countries, all until December 19th 2009) we decided to start a hostel and “bring the world to us”. The name we got from a little cheese nicknames that we keep saying to each other between aussie guy – Otto and us, superstar. So we just used the “Star” from it and named the hostel. After few years in the catering business we thought we had what it takes, and the knowledge for providing a good service. So we got some money and started as little unofficial hostel with only 3 beds in the beginning (1that we brought from home). Soon we realized that people do travel and do want to visit Belgrade, so we started the legalization process and by the end of the year we decided to move and start in a new location. After moving 2different locations we finally settled in Cara Urosa 37b and have been here since 2008. From the day we started we have been the Belgrade’s top-rated hostel and to this day we’re still in top Belgrade hostels, according to the reviews of the hostelworld.com and hostelbookers.com costumers. Our reviews include one from “Independent travel” editor back in 2005 and positive comment in “Bradt” travel guide for Serbia. Today we are a hostel with 22 beds, offering everything you need to spend a nice day with us and a pleasant time in our Belgrade.
