Jedan od vrhunaca mog boravka u Srbiji bio je poziv da učestvujem u proslavi Spasovdana sa lokalnim prijateljima. Prisustvovanje liturgiji bilo je prelepo iskustvo koje mi je omogućilo da bolje upoznam duboku veru i tradiciju koje su i dalje u srcu srpske kulture.
Kada je u pitanju priprema pečenog praseta za slavlje, malo ko to radi sa toliko umeća i posvećenosti kao Srbi. Međutim, slavlje nije samo u hrani. Poseban deo doživljaja je okupljanje porodice i prijatelja, razgovor i iščekivanje uz čašicu domaće rakije.
Naša domaćica pripremila je izvanrednu tradicionalnu trpezu sa paprikom u ulju, domaćom gibanicom, džigericom i ukusnom mućkalicom. Svako jelo bilo je odraz topline, gostoprimstva i velikodušnosti po kojima je Srbija poznata.
Ovakvi trenuci podsećaju me da se prava lepota Srbije ne nalazi samo u njenim prirodnim lepotama, već i u njenim ljudima, tradiciji i snažnom osećaju zajedništva
One of the highlights of my visit to Serbia was being invited to celebrate Spasovdan (Ascension Day) with local friends. Attending the liturgy was a truly memorable experience, offering a glimpse into the deep faith and traditions that remain at the heart of Serbian culture.
When it comes to preparing roast pig for a feast, few can match the skill and passion of the Serbians. Yet the celebration is about much more than the food itself. It is about gathering together, sharing stories, and patiently waiting while sipping homemade rakija among friends and neighbours.
Our hostess prepared an outstanding traditional feast, including paprika in oil, homemade gibanica, liver specialties, and delicious muskalica. Every dish reflected the warmth, hospitality, and generosity for which Serbia is so well known.
Experiences like these remind me that the true beauty of Serbia lies not only in its landscapes, but also in its people, traditions, and sense of community.
