The Arenal Volcano is an active volcano and one of the most representative at the tourist promotional level in Costa Rica.
This volcano awoke in July 1968, after 500 years of dormant state. Currently, it remains active, characterized by the emission of lava flows in a permanent way that look spectacular especially at night.
This protected area is a living laboratory, due to its geological, geomorphological and complexity in the development of biological processes, since it has a pioneer vegetation to a primary forest.
