Coated or Laminated Fabric: What Changes?

DERFLEX TPO coated fabric is supplied in rolls for TPO tarpaulin, industrial flexible covers and further processing by technical textile converters.

Coated construction:
The TPO compound is applied directly to one or both sides of the textile base. Depending on the process, the coating can anchor around the yarn structure and form an integrated surface.

Laminated construction:
A separately produced TPO film is bonded to the textile using heat, pressure, an adhesive or a compatible bonding layer. This can provide a smooth surface and more uniform film thickness.

Important checks include peel strength, bonding consistency, bubbles, wrinkles, edge separation, delamination after repeated folding and welded-seam performance.

Neither construction is automatically better. For a TPO tarpaulin or other industrial flexible covers, selection should reflect the welding method, repeated folding, cold-flex requirements, outdoor exposure and substances contacting the finished product.
