Lines at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will rise again
The latest report from Sea-Intelligence indicates that the boat queues outside the Twin Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach will grow again.
Sea-intelligence previously simulated cumulative changes in the number of ships arriving at twin Ports, using the fourth quarter of 2021 as a baseline. Assuming 2.5 weeks for the Asia-U.S. -West route, there will be 60 fewer ships arriving in the first week of March compared to the baseline of the fourth quarter of last year, with about 60 ships lined up, the data showed. Alan Murphy, SEA-Intelligence's chief executive, said that if nothing else changes, the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports will have 25 more ships lined up than the baseline by the end of May. The baseline for the fourth quarter of 2021 is 145 vessels, and with an additional 25 vessels, the queue will rise to 170. In addition, according to ship's big data calculation, the number of ships entering the queue at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach before March 11 has been reduced to 43, compared with the queue length of 100 ships in early January, which seems to have been greatly alleviated.
However, the actual situation is that there are still 122 ships heading for twin Ports, 12.6 million DWT. Of the 41 sailings completed between the two ports last week, 23 sailings occurred. The average true waiting time calculated according to the drift time is 382.78 hours, decreasing 14.53% from the previous month. The average waiting time on March 1 is the longest, which is 526.6 hours, indicating that congestion has not been effectively alleviated.
In addition, according to the shipwatch Index analysis of "container ships bound for The Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach", we can see that the current daily operation of the vessel has exceeded 22 during the same period of 2021. If the development trajectory of the third quarter of this year continues to reach the historical peak, the highest index level in 2022 will be close to 200.
Will the Twin Ports' Congestion of the century return? Worthy of high attention from all walks of life, and to prepare for this in advance. are for this in advance.
