Did you know that ....
In 2023, Kenya imported goods worth KSh 2.6 trillion while exports stood at KSh 1 trillion. That means we’re buying more than double what we sell.
- 🌍 China alone supplied nearly KSh 459 billion worth of goods.
- 🛢️ Our biggest imports: fuel, machinery, vehicles, and electronics.
- 🍵 Our biggest exports: tea, flowers, coffee, and fresh produce.
This trade gap is a challenge—but also a (massive opportunity). Every shilling we spend importing is a signal of what we could be producing, processing, or innovating right here at home.
👉 The question isn’t just (what do we import?)
It’s (what can we start making, branding, and exporting as Kenya and Africa to the world?)
The future belongs to those who turn deficits into industries, and industries into legacies.
