New Report: West Africa Coffee Market Intelligence — Week Ending 30 March 2026

We’ve just published our latest West Africa Coffee Market Intelligence report, covering market structure, system risk, financing conditions, and export dynamics across the region.

This week’s key takeaway:
The coffee market is not currently defined by shortage or surplus — it is being defined by margin pressure, financing conditions, and ex*****on capacity. In this type of market, the advantage shifts to operators who can finance, move, and deliver reliably.

The cocoa market just sent a signal most people are missing.

For two years the story was simple:
Cocoa prices exploded, reaching nearly $12,000 per tonne during the supply crisis.

But the next phase of the cycle may have already started.

And the first signal isn’t coming from price charts.

It’s coming from global cocoa grinding data — the industrial indicator that shows how much chocolate manufacturers are actually producing.

Something unusual is happening.

We broke down the data and what it could mean for the next phase of the cocoa market.

🇨🇮 Côte d’Ivoire announces the mid-crop cocoa price

The Conseil du Café-Cacao has confirmed the guaranteed farm-gate price for the 2025/2026 mid-crop campaign.

📅 Campaign period: March – August 2026
💰 Minimum price: 1,200 FCFA per kg

This price applies to well-fermented, properly dried and sorted cocoa beans, and authorities have made it clear that any purchase below this level is strictly prohibited.

The farm-gate price plays an important role in the cocoa market because it:

• helps protect farmer income
• stabilises local purchasing
• supports supply chain continuity during the mid-crop season

As the world’s largest cocoa producer, Côte d’Ivoire’s pricing decisions can influence supply dynamics across the global cocoa and chocolate market.

The performance of the 2026 mid-crop will now depend on factors such as yield quality, cooperative financing, exporter demand, and global cocoa price movements.

Cashew supply risk is forming upstream.

Unseasonably heavy December rainfall across Côte d’Ivoire, the world’s largest cashew producer, is emerging as an early variable to monitor as flowering begins.

While yield outcomes will only become clear in the coming weeks, early weather patterns point to heightened quality and disease risk at a critical stage of crop development.

Why this matters:
• Rainfall is tracking at approximately 2× the seasonal average
• The flowering phase is highly sensitive to excess moisture
• Côte d’Ivoire supplies around 40% of global raw cashew exports
• Ongoing expansion of local processing capacity is tightening export dynamics, amplifying any upstream disruption

Early indications from neighbouring Ghana suggest quality variability, reinforcing the importance of early, data-driven monitoring rather than reactive procurement.

400 FCFA/kg isn’t the story. The next 30 days are.

Côte d’Ivoire’s new farm-gate price for cashew will dominate headlines.
But price alone rarely explains outcomes.

What matters now is how the market responds — in the field, at aggregation points, and in buyer balance sheets. Liquidity, quality discipline, and ex*****on will shape this season far more than the number itself.

We’ve published a short market-intelligence piece looking at what to watch next, and why the first 30 days matter more than any announcement.

We’ve launched a new Market Intelligence Newsletter from YES INTERNATIONAL SA.

It’s designed as a periodic briefing on trade ex*****on, finance, and governance in West Africa — written for investors, institutions, and policymakers who work with these markets at a systems level.

The first issue focuses on a recurring blind spot in African trade: why continuity, not volume, is often the decisive factor for bankability and long-term capital.

If you’re involved in trade finance, policy design, or institutional investment, you may find it useful.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/issue-01-why-bankable-continuity-matters-miafe?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios&utm_campaign=share_via

Executive context African trade discussions often focus on scale: export volumes, processing capacity, and growth targets. From the perspective of financiers, insurers, and institutional buyers, these variables are secondary.
