Replacing 196 bridge structures while keeping Metro-North service moving was no small task.

But the Park Avenue Viaduct project was completed 60 months ahead of schedule and $195 million under its initial $960 million budget.

This vital structure carries 98% of Metro-North trains and every train entering and leaving Grand Central Terminal.

Take a look behind the scenes to see how our teams made it happen.

Here at the MTA, accessibility isn’t just single project or an item to be checked off a list—it’s a commitment to building a transit system where every rider feels welcome, supported, and able to move confidently across the region.

As we continue to celebrate Disability Pride Month, let’s look at some of the progress we’ve made across our system this year:

• In 2026, we’ve made 6 subway stations fully accessible (pictured here), including 57 St (M), Borough Hall (2/3/4/5), Harlem-148 St (3), Rockaway Blvd (A), Parkchester (6), and Sheepshead Bay (B/Q). We’ve also replaced 15 elevators across the system.

• Access-A-Ride is having a record-breaking year, regularly delivering service to 50,000 daily riders.

• We've expanded several accessibility innovations including NaviLens, Convo, and the launch of the new MTA app.
