The FBI just flagged $725M in cargo theft losses—something the industry has been dealing with for a while now.

In many cases, a legitimate carrier shows up and everything looks normal. The issue starts earlier: a compromised broker or carrier account leads to loads being reposted or redirected, and the shipment gets handed to the wrong party.

By the time it’s caught, it’s already gone.

For shippers, a few basics go a long way:
• Control who can change load details
• Treat last-minute updates as high-risk
• Verify new partners independently
• Don’t rely on one channel for critical info

Freight quotes often leave out customs fees, port charges, storage, trucking, and local destination costs—and that’s usually where margins disappear.

Always compare total landed cost, not just the freight rate.

• Flexible timing
• Lower cost matters more than speed

Use FTL if:

📌 U.S. Tariff Update, Feb 24th

📉 Supreme Court ruling: The U.S. Supreme Court struck down most of the 2025 tariffs, saying the president overstepped legal authority—that threw the entire tariff strategy into chaos.

📦 New global tariff: In response, the administration imposed a 10% tariff on most imports, using a different legal authority. It’s temporary (about 150 days) and could be raised to 15%, though timing isn’t clear yet.

⚖️ Refund lawsuits: Major companies like FedEx, Costco, Revlon are suing the U.S. government to get refunds on tariffs they already paid before the court ruling.

What you need to know:

🔹 Tariffs from 2025 are mostly invalid after the Supreme Court ruling.
🔹 A new 10% universal tariff is now in effect; the administration wants to raise it to 15% but hasn’t fully put that into place.
🔹 Businesses that paid tariffs before may be able to get refunds if they take action.
🔹 The overall landscape is messy: other nations and trade partners are watching how agreements and exemptions are being applied.
