What makes an inspection camera suitable for a hazardous environment?
It’s not just image quality, durability, or how far the camera can reach.
At refineries, chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, and other sites where flammable gases or vapours may be present, the inspection equipment itself has to be appropriate for the operating environment.
The next question is access.
For close-range inspection inside machinery and vessels, the VIDEOSCOPE XT provides an explosion-proof borescope option.
For pipelines from 2 to 24 inches, the SoloPRO+ ExZ1 ATEX Zone 1 push camera provides up to 330 ft (100 m) of working length.
For larger, longer pipelines, the Proteus ExZ1 robotic crawler enables operators to remotely inspect areas where a push camera may not be practical.
The right solution depends on the hazardous-area requirements, the asset, the access point, the pipe size, and the inspection distance.
