The latest artwork featured on the YWG sign is a deeply personal creation by Ojibwe artist Storm Angeconeb. It beautifully honours her grandparents—specifically her grandmother, a survivor of residential schools. It also feature’s Storm’s son in a traditional Tikanagin, raised in the culture her grandmother was painfully taken from. This piece is dedicated to all survivors. Every child matters. 🧡
Storm Angeconeb is an Ojibwe artist and member of Lac Seul First Nation, Treaty Three Territory. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Storm is currently based in Red Lake, Ontario. Many of her works include animals and birds as representations of herself or those close to her. Storm continues to practice her art through painting, digital art and practicing beadwork.

La plus récente œuvre présentée sur le panneau YWG est une création profondément personnelle de l’artiste ojibwée Storm Angeconeb. Elle rend un magnifique hommage à ses grands-parents, plus particulièrement à sa grand-mère, survivante des pensionnats autochtones. On y voit également son fils dans un tikinagan traditionnel, élevé dans la culture dont la grand-mère de Storm a été douloureusement privée. Cette œuvre est dédiée à tous les survivants. Storm Angeconeb est une artiste ojibwée et membre de la Première Nation de Lac Seul, sur le territoire du Traité 3. Née à Winnipeg où elle a grandi, Storm habite actuellement à Red Lake, en Ontario. Plusieurs de ses créations illustrent des animaux et des oiseaux, œuvres représentatives d’elle-même ou de ses proches. Storm continue de pratiquer son art par des travaux de peinture, d’art numérique et de perlage.
