We’re proud to share that AIM Robotics has qualified under Stream 1 and 5 of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace, administered by the Department of National Defence and the Defence Investment Agency.

For us, this is more than a supplier milestone.

It is part of a larger shift in how Canada understands and protects low-altitude airspace.

The Defence Drone Initiative was launched to accelerate Canadian capability in uncrewed and autonomous systems for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard, connecting operational requirements with Canadian innovation.

That mission matters because the airspace below 400 feet is changing quickly.

It is becoming more active.
More complex.
More operationally important.

Drones are now part of public safety, infrastructure protection, emergency response, and national defence.

But detection alone is not enough.
Knowing a drone is there is only the first question.

Who is flying?
Is it authorized?
What is the risk?
What needs to happen next?

That is the gap we are working to close.

Attention Drone Pilots! The Abbotsford International Airshow is this weekend✈️

Major aviation events like airshows can involve temporary airspace restrictions, active NOTAMs, controlled airspace, nearby aerodromes and heliports, and overlapping aviation chart layers.

For the Abbotsford International Airshow, restricted airspace is active near Abbotsford Airport under a Section 5.1 Aeronautics Act NOTAM. Unauthorized aircraft operations, including RPAS, are not permitted in the restricted area without authorization from the controlling agency.

So this weekend, we suggest leaving the drone at home unless you have specific authorization.
