This view might look familiar. The Walpole Island ferry landing has been connecting our community to Algonac from this very spot for over 75 years.
While ferry service here dates back to the early 1920s, the landing shown in this photo has been in continuous use since around 1949—serving generations of residents, workers, and visitors. Over the decades, the dock has been upgraded and improved, but its role has stayed the same: a vital link across the river and a daily part of island life.
A timeless crossing, then and now. 💙
