I'm really excited to introduce this week's Travel Advisor of the week. Gerry Hohl joined our office not long before Covid, but even with the difficult climate of booking travel, he persisted and stuck it out. He is a huge asset to this office with his sense of humour, determination and willingness to learn everything and work hard! Come in and see him on most Saturdays, or call 250-477-4877 or email [email protected] if you wish to have him help you with your travel plans. I promise, you won't be disappointed! Please enjoy my interview with him:................................................
1) What is your favourite destination to travel to?
GH - My biggest bucket list travel plan is the Maldives. My favorite that I have already been to is Florida, the cruise Mecca, as it is the launch point for so many cruises.
2) What was one of your favourite travel experiences?
GH - Travelling to Zams Austria. Spent 2 nights at a B&B traveling through Italy and Germany. Sitting on a balcony in a small Austrian town surrounded by the Alps was amazing.
3) What's your favourite thing about cruising?
GH - It is the most relaxing way to travel, with so many options that you are never bored. Probably the best part is you can unpack once, but have the opportunity to visit so many different locations.
4) What was the most delicious food you have ever tried on your travels?
GH - I am a person that enjoys different types of meats. While wild game is always interesting, I found alligator to be the most interesting taste, but my favourite was Mahi-Mahi in Hawaii.
5) Where would you recommend a first time cruiser to travel to? Why?
GH - As I am located on the West-coast I would recommend a Pacific Coastal preferable in the spring for a first time cruiser. The ports have some great excursions, the seas are calmer, and it gives the client a great opportunity to experience and learn about cruising.
6) Where would you recommend a well-traveled client go to? Why?
GH - The well-travelled customer, in a lot of cases, has been there and done that. I would try and match them with something that is outside of their normal travel. If they tend to do a number of Mediterranean or Caribbean cruises, I might suggest something more in the Expedition variety of cruising. Primarily this will add to an already great travel experience.
