What an incredible night for 16 amazing travellers!

This past month, FAB Tours headed to The David Foster Foundation Concert in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Some of our guests from the Rotary Club of Sidney were using a power scooter and wheelchair, and they simply would not have been able to attend this concert without accessible transportation.

With our electric lift, guests didn't have to "sit this one out" and travelled together comfortably and safely. ♿️

These 16 guests didn't stress about parking. They didn't navigate traffic. They didn't worry about night driving. They didn't have to piece out, “How are we going to make this work?”

They simply sat back, enjoyed the ride and experienced an unforgettable night!

The concert was spectacular. The atmosphere was ethereal, the sky lit up with a massive fireworks and drone show, and our 16 travellers got to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime evening in our beautiful Inner Harbour.

This is why we do what we do. 🩵
Because everyone deserves the opportunity to get out, have fun, make memories and experience something extraordinary.

Heading to a big event? Celebrating something special?
Leave the driving, parking and accessibility worries to Freedom Adventure Bus - and just enjoy the adventure. 🚌🩵

We had the privilege of providing a private SUV tour and meeting the incredible riders of Canada Cycles For Kids while they were in Victoria, celebrating the completion of their 7-day cycling tour. It was an extraordinary day! 🚙🚲

It was a truly inspiring experience to meet the riders, organizers, and especially the families whose lives have been touched by their generosity, including a wonderful Make-A-Wish Canada family.

This year's tour raised:
🔹Victoria Hospitals Foundation – $100,000
🔹Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation Hospital Foundation – $53,250
🔹Make-A-Wish Foundation Victoria – $100,000

Founded by Robert Fetherstonhaugh and Marc Balevi, Canada Cycles for Kids is devoted to helping children across Canada through fundraising cycling tours. To date, the organization has cycled more than 26,000 kilometres and raised over $4 million for infant and children's medical equipment. 🚴🙏

We are proud to have supported Sunfest Country by providing accessible transportation services throughout the event! 🚌🎶

Our drivers worked in rotating shifts from 11:00 AM until 3:30 AM during the festival, operating our accessible buses contracted by Laketown Ranch.

We shuttled till almost dawn, helping keep concertgoers moving safely and comfortably throughout the festival, and our clients were incredibly appreciative of the service.

Thanks again for another year of great drives, great times, and great music, Sunfest!

A major barrier for individuals accessing social and nature-based prescriptions is transport and accessibility.

While these are evidence-backed tools for supporting health and wellness at different ages, they often come with challenges in accessing public or private hire transport. If taxis or transit isn't easily available, there is often no way to access nature and social prescription programs.

Social and nature-based prescriptions rely on the whole community. From healthcare practicitioner to caregivers, to policy and to the patient themselves, it's possible to integrate these programs into the community. All it takes is a bit of fine-tuning to ensure there are no barriers!💙

This was Part 4, the last post, of our education series, which aims to break down nature deficit disorder, social and nature-based prescriptions, and how these tools can improve our community spaces.

Freedom Adventure Bus supports social prescription programs. Our trained drivers are equipped with the tools necessary to facilitate transport to and from locations in the community, including out into nature.

Contact us at 250-508-1808 and [email protected] to and ask us about how our accessible travel programs can help you or a loved one access community!

The Disability Pride Flag, shown here, is a visual representation of the diversity that is seen in the disability community. This flag, donned with green, blue, white, yellow, red and charcoal, symbolizes:

🟢Sensory Disabilities
🔵Psychiatric Disabilities
⚪Invisible & Undiagnosed Disabilities
🟡Neurodivergence
🔴Physical Disabilities
⬛The mourning of victims of ableist violence and abuse
..Disability spans borders between nations, and is why this flag is so important to reflect on this year.

"Disability is not only an identity, but also a community with a diverse culture all their own to be proud of and celebrated. Disability culture is about visibility and self-value." - Ontario's Bill 128
---
Video description: a visual graphic demonstrating the Disability Pride Flag is shown. Five bands of colour, green, blue, white, yellow, and red, are placed diagonally across the graphic. The remainder space is charcoal. In each band a descriptor is revealed. Green = "Sensory Disabilities", Blue = "Psychiatric Disabilities", White = "Invisible Disabilities", Yellow = "Neurodivergence", Red = "Physical Disabilities", Charcoal = "mourning and rage for victims of ableist violence and abuse”. Graphic is from r/disability by Ann Magill.
