Aviation Heritage Centre of Excellence for British Columbia Its a dream & its going to take many inputs to make it a reality. Contact: See BOXES A place to see, to touch, to explore, to fly. The idea is nascent.

This is not an attempt to steal any other group's thunder, but a means to work together and garner resources to take the many small pieces and create a masterpiece. There are many small aviation heritage sites of various sorts in British Columbia, Alberta and in the US Pacific Northwest. Few are well funded, not all can permit flight, most struggle, all fighting for resources. We are a place where

aviation has opened up our land and continues to facilitate our existance and access to many of the remote and wild places. Sadly, despite the valiant efforts of many good people, because there is no central structure, no foundational system to focus and support aviation heritage in British Columbia, no place where it can be brought together, we are losing our heritage to the south, to the east, to the weather and to a degree of indifference. The DREAM is to create an Aviation Heritage Centre of Excellence in British Columbia, something eventually of the stature of the Smithsonian in Washington, of the Boeing site in Seattle, but with the essence of the Duxford site in England. There is an opportunity to do this. It is going to require a great deal of planning and talking and dreaming, but the time is NOW.... . Let's make it happen!

HERITAGE AVIATION POSTER ART

These heritage aviation posters are now available on my Lens2Print site, on photographic paper, canvas, plexiglass and aluminium sheet, ( various sizes to your choice) as well as in miniature on a variety of mugs.

Wonderful for the den, flying club clubhouse, aviation offices.... your call.... they fit anywhere and are superb quality. A selection of these were picked, supersized, to hang in a San Francisco office tower lobby.

I must apologise to interested parties for the fact that I have done nothing with this page for a long time.....

However there is a reason for this. Not ONE person has contacted me to show interest in even developing the idea and doing any of the work since one poorly attended meeting several years ago!.....Not ONE.....

I cannot work on this alone and need other input, other ideas to flesh it out. The idea is sound. The Duxford site in UK have proven it, time and time again. They are doing it well in Quebec.... and "stealing" the aircraft resources we had out here in BC. It can be done..... it needs minds and manpower.

I AM NOTICING THAT THERE HAS BEEN A LOT MORE TRAFFIC ON THIS PAGE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. IF ANYONE IN THE LOWER MAINLAND IS READING THIS AND LIKES THE IDEA I AM WORKING SO HARD TO GET OVER TO YOU, WE NEED FOR FORM A SOCIETY TO MAKE THIS WORK. IT TAKES 6 PEOPLE TO DO THAT. IF THERE IS NOT THE INTEREST, I CANNOT DRIVE THIS BY MYSELF. a LOT OF PREP WORK HAS BEEN DONE. JUST NEED SUPPORT AND ANY DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST IN MAKING IT HAPPEN.

WELL...NOW IS THE TIME. IT'S NOW OR NEVER

Come out of the woodwork..... stand up....be counted....The Mars water bomber's owner is taking her to Oshkosh this year to try and find her a new home. This wonderful aircraft IS part of BC's aviation heritage. She is the last one. We need to form the Society to make the approaches to all concerned to keep her in BC and to use her as a foundational aircraft for this endeavour. I am but a voice crying in the wilderness right now..... Will ANYONE stand with me to move on this???
