In January 2020, a video from Batumi, Georgia, showed a neighborhood stray dog helping kindergarten children cross a busy road. As the children approached the crosswalk, the dog ran toward traffic and barked at drivers who failed to stop, then stayed close while the group crossed.

The man who filmed the scene, Beqa Tsinadze, called the dog Kursha. But residents knew him by several names, and Kupata, roughly “Sausage”, became the name most widely associated with him. Neighbors said this was not a one-time act. Helping children at the crossing had become a regular habit.

After the footage went viral, the Adjara Department of Tourism and Resorts gave Kupata his own small shelter decorated with a star reading “People’s Choice.”

Kupata remained a beloved Batumi figure until his death in October 2023.

Hello Carol Richard Park!

Our annual BBQ will be on September 19th this year! It is a Saturday and it will be from 11-4pm

As always, everything at this BBQ will be free! We do however encourage donations as we are still raising money towards redoing the roof, hopefully next summer.

This year there will be a foam cannon, school bus painting, and face painting
*please bring a towel for the foam cannon

As always, there will be lots of field and lawn games to play to win prizes, as well as several Inflatable games such as axe throwing, basketball shootout, soccer kick, and s***t ball!

The Valley East Community Action Network (VECAN) will also be joining us again this year to put on some games!

So come on out and enjoy the BBQ, play some games, win some prizes, get your face painted, do some painting, have some treats and help us celebrate the beginning of fall!
Hope to see you there!
