CAR BUYING MADE EASY WITH KTG
What does OAC actually mean?
OAC = On Approved Credit.
When you see an advertised finance rate like 0%, 1.99% or 3.99% OAC, that rate is a real available program — but it isn’t automatically guaranteed to every applicant.
Approval can depend on several things, including:
- Your credit profile
- The lender
- Finance term
- Vehicle eligibility
- The specific program being offered
And OAC doesn’t simply mean “good credit vs. bad credit.” It means the lender still needs to approve the financing.
The takeaway: don’t shop by the advertised rate alone. Make sure you understand the financing you actually qualify for and the overall cost of the vehicle.

DID YOU KNOW? Not all “winter-rated” tires are created equal. ❄️
Here in BC, both M+S tires and tires carrying the 3-Peak Mountain/Snowflake symbol can legally qualify as winter tires on designated routes — provided they have at least 3.5 mm of tread depth.
M+S — Mud + Snow
These tires meet BC’s minimum legal winter-tire requirement and may be a reasonable option if you only encounter winter conditions occasionally.
3-Peak Mountain/Snowflake
This symbol means the tire has met a specific performance standard for severe snow conditions. If you regularly drive in snow, ice and slush, this is generally the stronger winter choice.
And there’s another difference you can’t see quite as easily — the rubber itself.
Many M+S, all-season and all-terrain tires are designed to work across a broad range of conditions, but their rubber can become firmer as temperatures drop. Dedicated winter tires are formulated to stay more flexible in cold temperatures, helping them maintain grip on cold, snowy and icy roads.
For Kootenay driving, where we can see packed snow, ice, slush, mountain passes and changing conditions all in the same week, that difference can matter. 🏔️
So while an M+S tire may meet the legal minimum, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best tire for where and how you drive.
Legal minimum doesn’t always mean best suited to where and how you drive- Kootenay winters deserve more than just the minimum.

DID YOU KNOW? AWD and 4x4 aren’t quite the same thing.
Here’s the simple version 👇
AWD — like the Ford Escape
Designed to automatically manage traction for everyday driving. Think rain, snow, icy roads and changing conditions. ❄️
Advanced / Intelligent 4x4 — like the Bronco Sport and Explorer
Still does much of the traction management automatically, but adds more capability for tougher conditions, rougher roads and getting farther off the pavement.
Traditional 4x4 — like the Bronco, F-150, Ranger and Super Duty
Gives the driver more direct control with selectable 4x4, including high- and low-range capability for more demanding terrain and conditions.
So which one makes the most sense for Kootenay driving?
Around here, road conditions can change quickly — pavement, packed snow, icy highways, gravel roads and backroads can all be part of the same week. 🏔️
If most of your driving is commuting, highway and maintained winter roads, AWD can be a great fit. 🛣️
If your lifestyle regularly takes you into deeper snow, rough backroads, camping areas or farther off the pavement, a 4x4 system gives you that extra level of capability and control.
The “best” system isn’t simply the most capable one — it’s the one that matches how you actually use your vehicle.
And whichever one you choose, good winter tires still matter. 🛞

This is probably not the Bronco Sport you’re picturing.

The 2026 Bronco Sport Badlands with the Sasquatch Package brings a lot more capability than people expect from a smaller SUV.

Advanced 4x4, G.O.A.T. Modes, all-terrain tires and added off-road capability make this a great fit for Kootenay driving — whether that means winter roads, gravel, camping or getting a little farther off the beaten path.

And right now, Ford is offering 0% financing for up to 72 months OAC on the 2026 Bronco Sport Badlands for a limited portion of October.

If you’ve been overlooking the Bronco Sport, this one is worth a closer look.
