Dignity Transportation Inc.

Dignity Transportation Inc. We turn disability into mobility. The objective was "To treat our customers like family", and to be the premier mobility supplier to those with special needs.

From the very first day of our operation, in May 1990, our goal was to establish a transportation company that both clients and employees alike would be proud to call their own, specializing in wheelchair accessible vehicles and services. We provide transportation for passengers of all ages, including those with mobility impairments and cognitive impairments.

It is with great sadness that we learned that Lloyd, the founder of Dignity Transportation has passed. Those of us that had the privilege of working with him got to experience the true passion he had for helping those within the disabled community. Even those working for Dignity Transportation or those within the disabled community who did not get a chance to personally know Lloyd get to enjoy the legacy that he has left behind. May his memory always be a blessing.

Dignity Transportation does not usually take to social media to complain but the situations that we, as the owners of Dignity Transportation, a wheelchair accessible transportation company, found ourselves in yesterday and today are above and beyond. With the horrible snowstorm yesterday one of our vehicles, who was transporting a patient to Humber River Hospital for Dialysis, got stuck behind all the vehicles on the off ramp at the 401 and Keele. It took hours before the driver, with the help of an OPP officer push the passenger up the exit ramp and into the OPP vehicle to get her to her appointment. The driver did everything in his ability to help other cars to move out of the way as he knows the importance of what the company is all about. As nothing was able to be done to move the other vehicles our driver finally ventured home. We had spoken to a person at the OPP explaining that we would be very appreciative if we could be notified when and where the vehicle is towed as we have so many people needing emergency medical outings that were not able to go Monday. The person on the phone assured us that we would get a call. Needless to say we did not , but we could understand with everything going on. This morning the driver went back to the 401 and Keele to find an OPP officer working on having the vehicles towed. He was told that our vehicle was towed recently by Freeway Towing and was given a number to call. We called Freeway Towing and they had no record of the vehicle. We called the OPP back and they had it as Freeway Towing with a person Alex doing the pick up. Back to Freeway Towing we called and yes they have an Alex but he did not pick up our vehicle. So now we have customers needing service and no one seemed to know where our vehicle was located. Back to the OPP and the sergeant at the scene was now supposed to call us back. No call back. Jeff and I spent an hour calling tow companies and finally we were able to find the Van. You would think we would be happy at this point, but the tow truck company told us we would not be able to pick up the van until tomorrow, if then, and was angry with the fact that we needed it, as they said, everyone needs their cars. Apparently it snowed really hard in Scarborough after 11:00 this morning and the van was snowed in..... I explained what we do and they really could not care less. Back to the OPP. Within 10 minutes we received a call back from OPP saying it will be ready for pick up at 4:30. So off the driver went to get the vehicle at WILLIAMS TOWING and STORAGE. During that time we found out the cost of this tow. $926.00. Yes $926.00. And then when the driver got there the vehicle was still on the towing wheelbase and backed into a bunch of snow. But wait there is more, the front bumper was totally off the vehicle just sitting there and the drivers mirror was broken. When I spoke to the towing company, they said it was a result of the accident he was in. I said what accident. So now the van is not able to be driven because it is on the wheels, the drivers side mirror is cracked the front bumper is sitting on the ground and it will cost us $926.00 to get back the vehicle. After some yelling they finally took the vehicle off the tow wheels and brought the car forward - with the bumper now in the car and a broken mirror, But no worries everyone they made sure they got their $926.00 and they part of the charge was $160.00 for storage. WILLIAMS TOWING. Never ever use them. But besides that we will be going after them for a ridiculous and damages. Anyone want to help a good cause.
