Like many Torontonians, we were incredibly saddened to hear the news of Google's Sidewalk Labs' decision to cancel their Quayside project. The link below from Sidewalk Labs' CEO gives their official announcement.

While we are certainly in unprecedented times at the moment, it would appear that this decision was made by Sidewalk Labs in response to the Global economic climate and not specifically based on the Toronto Real Estate Market.

From our experience with past recessions and real estate downturns, we are not expecting significant year-over-year price changes in 2020 in Toronto. It’s worth noting that home price declines occur when the market experiences sustained low sales volume while inventory builds. Currently, the inventory of homes for sale in this city is still very low, matching low sales volumes as people respect government mandates to stay at home.

The Sidewalk Labs Quayside property is very attractive and will no doubt appeal to many other developers seeing the exceptional value of this waterfront location.
