In 2013, 15-year-old Temar Boggs of Lancaster, Pennsylvania joined the search after 5-year-old Jocelyn Rojas disappeared from her front yard.
While riding his bicycle with a friend, he spotted a suspicious car and followed it through the neighborhood for several minutes.
The driver eventually stopped and released Jocelyn, who ran to Temar asking for her mother.

Police later arrested a suspect, and Jocelyn was safely reunited with her family.
Temar’s actions quickly drew national attention because he chose to get involved instead of simply watching from a distance.
His determination helped turn a frightening situation into a safe return home.

One teenager, one bicycle and a decision to keep going made a lasting difference that day.
Years later, the story remains a powerful example of courage, awareness and stepping up when someone needs help. ❤️

On April 7, President Donald Trump warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran failed to reach a deal tied to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement triggered immediate criticism from Democrats, international figures and some former Republican allies.
That same day, the NAACP called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked for the first time in the organization’s history.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson described Trump as “unfit, unwell, and unhinged,” while former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene separately called the threat “evil and madness.”
Greene wrote that the United States could not “kill an entire civilization” and also urged use of the 25th Amendment.
Democratic lawmakers likewise called for Trump’s removal or other congressional action over the Iran conflict.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment cannot be triggered by Congress alone; it requires the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to formally declare the president unable to perform the duties of office.
That provision has never been invoked since the amendment was ratified in 1967.
Five months later, no such action has occurred, while the U.S.-Iran conflict and the political debate over presidential war powers continue.

President Donald Trump has promised a $5,000 “dividend” to U.S. adults if Republicans retain control of both the House and Senate in the November midterms.
But the announcement came without a detailed funding mechanism, payment schedule or legislation establishing who would issue the money.
Independent estimates put the potential cost at roughly $1.2 trillion.

Trump has pointed broadly to tariff revenue and economic growth, while Vice President JD Vance has also suggested tariffs could help fund the payments.
Current tariff collections, however, are far below the amount needed for a nationwide $5,000 payout, and federal spending generally requires congressional authorization.
Trump has nevertheless said he does not believe Congress would necessarily need to approve the checks.

For now, the clearest condition Trump has attached is political: Republicans must keep both chambers of Congress.
No checks are currently authorized, no application exists, and no final law or payment structure has been enacted.
That leaves the “Trump dividend” as a campaign pledge rather than an approved federal benefit.

Minnesota’s new AI “nudification” law is now in effect after passing the House 132–1 and the Senate 65–0 before Gov. Tim Walz signed it in May.
The law targets companies that operate or promote tools capable of creating realistic intimate images of identifiable people without consent, with civil penalties reaching $500,000 per violation.
It applies broadly to identifiable individuals, not only minors, and focuses enforcement on the services providing the technology.

xAI sued Minnesota on July 27, arguing the law violates the First Amendment, but U.S. District Judge Donovan W. Frank refused to block it before its August 1 effective date.
On September 4, he also denied xAI’s request for a preliminary injunction, finding the company had not shown irreparable harm and that the public-interest factors strongly favored Minnesota.
The court has not yet resolved the underlying constitutional challenge, and xAI is appealing to the Eighth Circuit.

The dispute carries added significance because xAI’s Grok image tools have faced separate allegations involving nonconsensual sexualized imagery.
A recent lawsuit by a childhood-abuse survivor alleges Grok used previously circulated abuse images to generate new illegal material; those claims remain allegations being litigated.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed “Missy’s Law” on March 31, closing the legal gap that allowed judges to release certain convicted offenders on bond while they awaited sentencing.
The law requires anyone who pleads guilty, no contest, or is found guilty of a listed dangerous crime to be taken immediately into custody without bond pending sentencing.
It also expanded Florida’s definition of dangerous crimes to include additional child-exploitation offenses.

But DeSantis did not stop with changing the law.
At the signing ceremony, he separately called on the Florida House to impeach Judge Tiffany Baker-Carper, whose earlier bond decision in the case that inspired the law drew intense criticism from the governor.
That impeachment question is distinct from Missy’s Law itself and would require action by the Legislature.

The practical rule has already changed: Florida judges no longer have discretion to grant post-conviction bond in the covered dangerous-crime cases.
The remaining political dispute is whether lawmakers should also pursue accountability for judicial decisions made before that protection became law.

Dolly Parton created the Imagination Library in 1995 after being inspired by her father, who never learned to read or write.
The program sends free books to children from birth to age five and has now distributed more than 300 million books across five countries.
After Parton died in Nashville on August 25, her family asked supporters to donate to the literacy program instead of sending flowers.

Two days later, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood announced a new tribute through Friends in Low Places, their bar at 411 Broadway in Nashville.
On September 25, the venue will hold “Dolly Day,” with all revenue from food, drinks and admission going to the Imagination Library.
Yearwood said whatever the cash register totals at the end of the day will go directly toward Parton’s passion for children’s literacy.

Brooks and Yearwood say they plan to make Dolly Day an annual tradition.
Brooks summed up Parton’s legacy simply: a life spent loving others can create something that continues long after the person is gone.

In June 2020, singer Pink and then-congressional candidate Lauren Boebert traded sharp messages online after Pink criticized President Donald Trump following protests over George Floyd’s death.
Boebert responded by defending Trump, identifying herself as an American and demanding an apology from the singer.
Pink refused, mocked Boebert’s writing and said the candidate would receive neither an apology nor her vote.

Boebert fired back that Pink’s remarks insulted millions of Americans and suggested alienating Trump supporters could hurt her ability to fill arenas.
Pink answered that their numbers were shrinking and said she was willing to put what she believed was right ahead of her career.
She also accused Boebert of shaping her comments around winning votes.

The exchange happened months before Boebert won Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District in November 2020.
She went on to become a Republican member of Congress, turning what began as a celebrity-candidate argument into an exchange involving a future national political figure.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s recent remarks about Donald Trump drew attention because of the personal history behind her words.

In 2022, she took the witness stand under her own name and accused Weinstein of sexually assaulting her years earlier.
