Places We Love: Hoanib Elephant Camp, Namibia

Some places simply feel untouched. Hidden deep within Namibia’s remote Hoanib River Valley, Hoanib Elephant Camp is one of Africa’s most exciting new safari openings, offering an experience that is as much about the landscape as it is the wildlife.

Opened by Natural Selection in 2026, this intimate camp features just ten beautifully designed canvas suites that blend seamlessly into the desert surrounds. Luxury here is understated, allowing the vast wilderness to take centre stage.

The Hoanib River is home to one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife stories, the desert adapted elephants, whose ability to survive in this harsh environment is nothing short of extraordinary. Exploring the riverbeds and mountains in search of these gentle giants, alongside giraffe, oryx, Hartmann’s mountain zebra and, with a little luck, desert lion or black rhino, makes for a safari unlike anywhere else on the continent.

What we love most is the overwhelming sense of remoteness. Endless desert landscapes, spectacular sunsets and impossibly star filled skies create an experience that feels both humbling and unforgettable.

Places We Love: The Balmoral, Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

There are hotels, and then there are icons. Standing proudly at No. 1 Princes Street, where Edinburgh’s Old Town meets the New, The Balmoral has been welcoming guests since 1902 and remains one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Its famous clock tower still runs three minutes fast, a tradition dating back to its railway hotel origins, giving travellers a little extra time to catch their train.

What we love most, however, is that beneath the grandeur lies genuine warmth. From the moment you arrive, the service feels effortless and personal, with the sort of attention to detail that makes a stay memorable rather than simply luxurious.

A particular highlight is SCOTCH, the hotel’s intimate whisky bar. Home to more than 500 Scottish whiskies, it offers one of Edinburgh’s finest whisky experiences, whether you’re a seasoned collector or simply curious to learn more about Scotland’s national drink 🥃

Back in the rooms, it’s the little touches that stay with you: the whisky fudge waiting as a sweet welcome, the elegant Rocco Forte glasses cloths, and the feeling that every detail has been thoughtfully considered.

Historic, elegant and unmistakably Scottish, The Balmoral is one of those rare hotels that manages to feel both grand and genuinely welcoming. Every time we walk through those doors, it feels a little like coming home to Edinburgh.

Places We Love: Sussurro

Seated on the secluded shores of a warm turquoise lagoon in Southern Mozambique, Sussurro is a thoughtfully designed space for you to align with nature and immerse yourself in a more meaningful travel experience.

Framed by two extraordinary bodies of water - the calm lagoon and white sand beaches to the front, and the wild Indian Ocean beyond - Sussurro feels deeply connected to its surroundings. PLACES WE LOVE - Londolozi Tree Camp

There are safari lodges… and then there is Londolozi Tree Camp
Perched high beneath a canopy of ancient leadwood trees and elevated above the Sand River, Tree Camp feels completely immersed in the wilderness while somehow remaining impossibly elegant. Long, lazy afternoons on the deck watching elephants move through the riverbed below, lanterns flickering as evening falls, and some of the most beautiful design details in the bush… this place is pure magic.

What makes Londolozi so special though goes far beyond the beauty of the camp itself. The Varty family were true pioneers in conservation, photographic safaris, and shaping the way the world views and protects leopards today. Their relationship with the wild leopards of Londolozi spans decades, and being here you can genuinely feel that deep connection to the land and wildlife.

Tree Camp itself was also the very first safari lodge in Africa to join Relais & Châteaux back in 1993, and it still feels every bit as exceptional today. Ralph Lauren inspired interiors, leather and wood textures, beautiful fabrics and warm glowing lanterns create a space that feels sophisticated, intimate, and deeply African all at once.

And then there is the game viewing… Londolozi sits within the legendary Sabi Sand, an area renowned for some of the best leopard sightings in Africa, alongside extraordinary lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and wild dog encounters. Every drive here feels cinematic.

Leopards, leadwoods and lanterns… Tree Camp truly lives up to every bit of the legend.
