"Here's the thing about travel; there is hardly ever the PERFECT time to go. During the pandemic, it may seem as though the reasons to stay home are overwhelming with restrictions ever changing. But, even before the pandemics how many times did you find yourself worried about time off, missing events, or let fear stop you from buying the plane ticket and just doing it? How many times did you dream of escaping to sea, or climbing that mountain that's been at the top of your bucket list for decades, and found an excuse to not 'send it'? We have such limited time to really go and explore, to taste and try on the world, that it's vital to take every opportunity to do so. The world has so many lessons it wants to teach you, so regardless of the list of excuses not to, the importance of ignoring that voice and facing your next challenge is imperative to living a fulfilling and satisfying life.
Travelling is intimidating and sometimes scary. It can be difficult and frustrating, but the rewards while on your adventure are unmatched. When you find a wine that changes the way you'll see grapes for ever, or meet a stranger that alters your perception, all the silly inconveniences melt away. Travel has the power to show you who you are, to stretch previously permanent comfort zones, or to take you to a state of relaxation you never thought possible. You just have to let it.
My last piece of advice for travelling during - or post -pandemic (besides getting vaccinated and wearing a mask) is to have an open mind. You are travelling at an uncertain time, but this can also invite such unique and special experiences. For example, some countries have curfews, meaning you'll inevitably have an early night. But, that gives you a new freedom to explore early morning hikes, watch the sunrise, or see what empty cobblestone streets look like as the sun goes down. Wildlife is growing and healing, and tourist attractions are often less crowded. It exposes you to the communities in a new way, and in a deeply human way. Restrictions shouldn't scare you away from travel, but open your mind to the one-of-a-kind experiences not many have the opportunity to see. Enjoy with patience."
