The Crosstown The Crosstown is one of four new LRT lines bringing 52 km more transit to Toronto. Have a question, or want to get in touch with someone from the Crosstown?

This new transit will connect Toronto with comfort, convenience, reliability and speed. An initiative of Metrolinx, the Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit line that will run under and along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto. It will link to 54 local bus routes, three TTC interchange subway stations and GO Transit. It will create thousands of construction jobs and provide lasting economic benefits to Toronto and its surrounding region. The Crosstown Community Relations team works with communities, businesses and stakeholders to identify issues early and mitigate construction impacts. The Eglinton Crosstown recently checked off another achievement when Avenue Station received occupancy certification from the Toronto Building Department. What does this mean? This certification demonstrates that the necessary building systems and procedures are in place to respond to an emergency like a fire. Occupancy certification is a vital step in the testing and commissioning phase.

Take a look at some of these before and after shots from the construction of Avenue Station to today.
L’Eglinton Crosstown a récemment coché une autre réalisation lorsque la station Avenue a reçu la certification d’occupation du service du bâtiment de Toronto. Qu’est-ce que cela signifie? Cette certification démontre que les systèmes et les procédures de construction nécessaires sont en place pour intervenir en cas d’urgence comme un incendie. La certification d’occupation est une étape essentielle dans la phase de test et de mise en service.

Crews have been testing fire alarm systems across Eglinton Crosstown stations. In addition to audio tones, visual messages are displayed on signage throughout the station.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT uses Automatic Train Control (ATC) for maximum efficiency and safety. This system, already in use on Line 1 as well as across Japan and Europe, allows for closer train spacing, real-time adjustments for speed and braking, and faster commutes. 🚉

Here's some recent looks at Fairbank—an underground station at Dufferin and Eglinton Avenue West that includes an outdoor community plaza, indoor retail spaces at street level and dedicated bike parking.

With major construction almost finished, we're in the critical testing and commissioning phase where faults or issues are found and fixed before the project can safely open to customers.
Fairbank est une station de métro située à l’ouest du trajet du projet, à l’angle de la rue Dufferin et l’avenue Eglinton Ouest. Il comprend une place communautaire qui intègre le parc existant, des espaces commerciaux et des places de stationnement réservées aux vélos.

Bien que les travaux de construction soient presque terminés, il reste encore beaucoup d’essais et de mises en service à effectuer sur le TLR d’Eglinton Crosstown avant qu’il n’ouvre ses portes.
