Some things just come full circle 💙

This sweater belonged to my grandmother—and if you know me, you know how much family and travel are tied together in my life. Seeing “Legend of the Seas” on it brings back such special memories, because cruising truly is in my blood.

I actually sailed on the original Legend of the Seas with Royal Caribbean International when I was just 12 years old, exploring the Mediterranean. That trip sparked something in me that never really left—the love of discovering new places by sea.

And now, it feels a little magical that Royal Caribbean is bringing the name back with a brand new Legend of the Seas launching in 2026. Same name, new ship… and a whole new generation of memories waiting to be made.

🌴 Travel Update: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 🇲🇽

There have been recent headlines regarding security operations in the area of Puerto Vallarta, located in the state of Jalisco on Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

Recent events were tied to government security operations in parts of Jalisco. Temporary flight disruptions occurred while authorities managed the situation. Importantly, these incidents were not targeted at tourists, and resort areas operate separately from broader regional security matters.

📍 Geography Matters

Mexico is a very large country, and destinations are often very far apart.

For perspective:

✈️ Puerto Vallarta is on the Pacific Coast
✈️ Cancún is on the Caribbean Coast

They are approximately 1,900+ km (1,200+ miles) apart — about a 4-hour flight.

Other popular destinations such as:
• Playa del Carmen
• Tulum
• Cozumel

are all located in Quintana Roo — on the opposite side of the country from Puerto Vallarta.

🌊 This means travelers heading to the Riviera Maya or Cancun area are geographically far removed from the current situation in Jalisco.

The situation on the ground has prompted safety measures and travel disruptions for passengers flying to or from this popular Mexican destination. 

📍 Affected Airlines (latest reports):
• Air Canada – temporarily suspended operations to Puerto Vallarta. 
• WestJet – cancellations reported on flights destined for PVR. 
• Porter Airlines – also cancelling flights to Puerto Vallarta. 

⚠️ The Government of Canada has issued local guidance as the security situation continues to develop, and people in the area have been advised to take precautions.
