Arrived home Monday at midnight 😴. 37.5 hours from hotel pick up to walking through my front door 🚪. 49 year old me would have been at work on Tuesday. 50 year old me can kick, stretch and take a day to recoup… 😂

I appreciate your patience as I catch up on 3+ weeks of emails, schedule changes, requests and all other travel news.

In the meantime, here is a professional travel tip:

It may seem efficient to place an online grocery order for pick up when you return from vacation, but after two long haul flights maybe check it over before you hit enter. Otherwise 5 apples 🍏 inadvertently become 5 BAGS of apples 😮🙄🤣

Welcome to Zanzibar 🌴🍹🌺 🩵. A visit to Stonetown, a spice farm and prison island with a few quiet days oceanside to relax 🥰

Disclaimer: if you know me you know I could not smell a single thing at the spice farm ☹️….BUT I also could not smell anything at the fish market 😊.

Our tour wraps up in Karatu, where the group had some pool time 💦 and special visits to the Datoga and Hadzabe tribes.

The Datoga are incredible blacksmiths that melt scrap metal to craft tools, jewelry and spearheads ⚒️. The spear and arrowheads 🏹 are traded with the neighbouring Hadzabe. The Hadzabe are one of few nomadic hunter-gatherer’s on earth 🫐🌿. They speak 🗣️a unique language that includes clicking and popping sounds.

A final farewell 👋 dinner with the group in Arusha before some return home and others journey on ✈️👣🚙

Prepare for safari spam 😮

We crossed the border between Kenya 🇰🇪 and Tanzania 🇹🇿 and spent a night on Lake Victoria 💦 , the main source of the Nile. Then two nights right in the Serengeti, where zebras 🦓 graced our doorstep and many others strolled through unbothered. Each night we’d fall asleep under a dark sky ⭐️ to the sounds of the wild 🐘

Serengeti ~ endless plains ~ 🦁 The sheer number of wildlife sightings were staggering and a dream experience beyond my imagination …

Followed by Ngorongoro Crater with sweeping sights from the rim and vast views of animals, lakes, rivers, woodlands and hills.
