My cruise through the Norwegian Fjords on Celebrity Apex was honestly one of the most memorable cruises I’ve ever taken.

The scenery was breathtaking, dramatic mountains, waterfalls cascading down the cliffs, tiny villages tucked into the fjords… and sailing through the Seven Sisters was one of those travel moments I’ll never forget. Norway is even more beautiful than people imagine.

What made this trip even better was experiencing it on the right ship for me, for this itinerary. Celebrity Apex felt elegant, modern, relaxing, and perfectly suited for those long, scenic sailing days.

This is also why I always tell clients that choosing a cruise is about so much more than simply picking a destination online. There is so much information out there now between cruise lines, ships, itineraries, cabin types, dining packages, and excursions that it can quickly become overwhelming.

Part of what I do is help narrow it all down and match my clients with the cruise experience that truly fits their travel style. The ship matters. The itinerary matters. Even the cabin location can completely change the experience.

My goal is to make sure everything is planned properly from the start so all you need to do is enjoy the journey.

If a European cruise is on your travel wish list, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to help guide you toward the right cruise experience for you.

Today is Travel Advisor Appreciation Day, and it has me reflecting on how fortunate I am to work in this industry and be part of such an incredible community.

One of the best parts of being a travel advisor is the community behind it. So many advisors are willing to share their knowledge, answer questions, offer advice, and genuinely support one another. I’ve learned so much from people who didn’t have to help, but chose to anyway.

What we do is about so much more than booking travel. It’s about thinking ahead, spotting the potential stress points before they happen, and putting all the pieces together to create experiences that feel easy and memorable for our clients.

To my fellow advisors, thank you. I’m grateful for the support, the shared knowledge, and the friendships along the way ❤️

Mine looks a lot like this.

There’s something about watching an AmaWaterways ship glide quietly along the river… no noise, no rush, nowhere you need to be except right here.

It’s not about doing more. It’s about slowing down, settling in, and letting the journey unfold around you.

Unpack once. Wake up somewhere new. Take it all in at your own pace.

This is the kind of travel that stays with you long after you’re home.

I’m outdoorsy…

I like my wine on a sun deck, my walks through storybook villages, and my views constantly changing.

This is what “outdoorsy” looks like on an AmaWaterways journey — fresh air, open skies, and front-row seats to Europe as it quietly unfolds around you.

It’s active when you want it to be, relaxed when you need it to be, and always effortlessly seamless.

Not your typical idea of outdoorsy… but it might be better

The thing I love most about small ship cruises is that you wake up somewhere completely new every morning, and the ship is already tucked into a harbor the big ones couldn’t get into even if they wanted to.

You’re actually in the place. Not anchored outside of it waiting for a tender boat with 300 other people.

The crew knows your name. The group is small enough that you end up at dinner with people you actually like. Don’t be surprised if you come home with a few people you’re already planning the next one with.

And the itinerary hits ports that most travelers only ever see in a photo.

It’s the kind of travel that makes everything else feel like it’s missing something. And I say that as someone who books a lot of travel.

Right now I’m booking small ship experiences for clients to Scandinavia and the Mediterranean, so if you’d like to be matched to the perfect cruise for you, let’s chat.

Most people choose cruises with lots of ports.

I just chose one with three sea days on purpose.

This weekend I’m sailing on Celebrity Beyond, departing from Miami.

This trip is all about slowing down and experiencing The Retreat, Celebrity’s ship-within-a-ship suite experience.

True confession: when I travel, my brain never fully goes on vacation.

There’s always a little travel advisor radar running quietly in the background.

Before any trip I still go through the same last-minute checklist everyone else does packing, passports, chargers, and the inevitable “what am I forgetting?” moment.

But there’s always a second layer for me.

This time I booked a Sky Suite in The Retreat because I want to really experience what it feels like day-to-day — the spaces, the service, and the overall atmosphere.

I also intentionally chose an itinerary with three sea days on a seven-day cruise, and ports I’ve already visited before.

That way there’s no pressure to rush off the ship, this one is about enjoying the experience onboard.

For many travelers that might sound like a lot of time at sea…

But sea days are when you actually get to enjoy the ship.

I’ll be paying attention to things like:

• how the suite experience feels after a few days
• the service inside The Retreat
• the flow of the ship on sea days vs port days
• the dining and overall vibe onboard

Cruise tip:
If relaxation is your goal, look for itineraries with a few sea days built in. Constant port days can be fun, but they can also feel rushed. A couple of slower days at sea often turns a cruise into a true vacation.

Once I’m onboard, I’ll share what the experience actually feels like day-to-day.

And if there’s anything you’ve ever wondered about cruising, suites, sea days, or life onboard just let me know.

Are you a sea-day person… or do you prefer lots of ports?

One of the things that surprises people about river cruising is how close you are to everything.

Ships are small — usually around 150 guests — and they dock right in the heart of town. Within minutes you’re walking past cafés, markets, and historic squares.

A few beautiful itineraries I often recommend:
• Budapest to Vilshofen on the Danube
• Basel to Amsterdam on the Rhine
• Roundtrip Porto through Portugal’s Douro Valley

It’s a wonderfully relaxed way to experience Europe — simply watching villages, vineyards, and castles drift by along the river.
