🚨 Scene Watch | Overnight Structure Fire – Collingwood 🚨

At approximately 1:00 a.m. this morning, Collingwood OPP, Collingwood Fire, and Simcoe County Paramedic Services responded to reports of a structure fire at an apartment complex on St. Paul Street in the Town of Collingwood.

It has since been confirmed that the fire was caused by a cigarette, which ignited couch cushions inside one of the apartment units.

Upon arrival, emergency crews quickly evacuated the building while firefighters aggressively attacked the fire. Thanks to the fast response by Collingwood Fire, the blaze was successfully contained to the affected unit and prevented from spreading to neighbouring apartments.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and all occupants were able to evacuate safely.

This incident is an important reminder to properly dispose of smoking materials, ensure your home has working smoke alarms on every level, and have an evacuation plan in place. Small fires can escalate quickly, but early detection and a rapid emergency response can make all the difference.

A big thank you to Collingwood Fire, Collingwood OPP, and Simcoe County Paramedic Services for their swift and professional response in bringing this incident under control safely.
