Hey everyone ,
A great thing to think about while traveling around this summer. Thanks for sharing this important information Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council
"We all know how exciting when summer arrives and it's finally time to get outside and hit the trails. But did you know that your ride could unintentionally help spread invasive species?
Invasive species are plants, insects or animals that are not native to our region and threaten our ecosystems by spreading rapidly (since they don’t have any natural control measures here, like diseases and predators).
As riders travel between trails, invasive plant seeds and plant fragments can hitchhike on bikes, clothing, shoes, and gear. Mud stuck to tires and frames can also transport invasive species. Help protect our environment and prevent the spread of invasives by:
REMOVING plants, animals & mud from boots, gear, pets & vehicles.
CLEANING your gear before entering & leaving the recreation site.
STAYING on designated roads & trails."
